Hello my lovelies
So this is what my friends monkey did...
He put the seeds in wet tissue inside a plastic container and made sure the tissue stayed wet. After a few days the seeds had opened and the little white shoot had just popped out.
Next the seed/shoot was placed very carefully into a 1cm deep hole in soil and covered over. The soil was then watered and has been kept moist by watering every other day.
Thing is - its been almost 2 weeks and nothing yet... I thought the plants would of appeared by now?
How long is it supposed to take?
Last time we tried (many many years ago) I remember the little sprout comes out with the seed shell and it opens up to reveal the first baby leaves. I just don't remember is taking this long - so starting to worry that something has gone wrong

If it was germinated then you should see the leaves in two or four days.
If it was not germinated, it can take a week or two to see the leaves.

About 1 cm.
They must of died for some reason we did 10 and none have come up after nearly 2 weeks.
Lost all my money that we spent on the seeds
Dunno what went wrong though cuz we made sure we kept it well watered so they would not dry out and die or anything.

Unless over watering can kill them?
We thought they had to be kept real moist at that stage

What kind of soil where you using? If you used soil that had alot of water retention then yeah, sounds like they got over watered.
The best way to keep them moist is to water maybe like 2 times a week and keep a bag over the solo cup to keep the moisture in until their first set of "true" leaves show.

A bag over the cup is unnecessary if the cotelydons have popped up. In fact, unless you need to keep a towel moist, you really don't need humidity at all for germing seeds.
Either the soil remained too wet or you damaged the fragile tap root during the transplant process. I personally prefer germing my seeds in my medium rather than start them and transplant. It's easier for me to do it this way and I haven't lost a seed that's germinated yet. Might want to try experimenting next time around and find a method that works for you.
