Big time score !!!

I am doing some part time work for a buddy, and we are finishing up the other day in his shop when i notice some old gear piled up like junk in one corner, so I mosey over to have a peek... There are three complete 1000w hps outdoor light systems just sitting there !!!
I try not to act too excited, and later on in the week i ask him about cleaning up the shop and mention those lights, if they are throw out or what. (he doesnt know i grow) He says, "yup, everything in that pile was here when i bought the shop, nothing of any use to me, so throw it all out" So i get 3 1000w systems at my disposal !!! only problem is they are for outdoor spotlight use, so i am going to have to remove some of the extra weight, as each one is about 80-100 pounds i am guessing, they have fancy swivel brackets and weatherproof cases etc.
here is the bulb number "philips c1000s52" it comes up as hps. how do i make sure these are 110 and not 220 ??? all of the stickers and name plates are worn off.

Bulb is 2100k and approx. 125,000 lumens. Very well-suited for this hobby compared to the bulbs in most outdoor "security" lights.
The lights themselves could be trouble indoors though. Make sure you do your homework before trying those out dude.

I took one apart last night to see about the wiring. Some of the ballast is encapsulated in a gluey/waxy material - very heavy, i guess it is for weather proofing etc??? anyways i found some labels on some wires that make sense like "lamp com", "com" then there was one attached to the black out of the power supply side connected to a wire going into the gluey stuff labeled " 347 V " Huh? i could understand 110 , 120, 220, 230 etc, but what the heck does 347 v mean??? I guess i gotta snoop around on the internet some more.

Are you guessing they may be a little hot? I was wondering about that. there is definitely lots of heat sink fins all over the place on the cases. I wouldnt want more than one working right now. Pity I cant just plug the light into my 150w ballast thats already hanging in the right spot !

well first off he didn't pay a penny so that's the first bonus here. Why spend $400 when you don't have to? (the Lumatek is $250, but you still need a bulb and a hood)
Secondly, I really doubt that your 1400W of light raised your bill $120 a month unless you're getting charged like $5/KWH. I'm running 3200W in my house and my bill went up about $60

Alright, I must be wrong with the power thing. It was a good 4-5 years ago and I don't officially remember. I'll stop giving advice on HID lighting and power consumption.

Well here's the thing man, we pride ourselves on having ONLY completely accurate information on these boards, so people get pretty heated if you are posting shoddy facts. Make sure you know damn well you are correct otherwise don't even take the time to post, this isn't ICmag or RIU...
