Smoking anything is bad, though you can use a vaporizer or consume it orally to avoid that.    Temporarily it can have some undesired cognitive effects.

more harmful than tobacco I do not think so I smoke cigs too and they have messed me up far worse than the wonder plant. I have seen long time hard core drinkers who look like death warmed over. Most of the negative things are put up by those companies as well as the pharmaceutical companies they will loose millions by people not buying their product which in 6 months to a year you will see the commercial saying have you or a loved one taken such and such plz call us to get in on this law suite(by the way do you know those lawyers are paid for by the companies they say they are suing, that way the company gets off cheap because they try to talk you into taking a settlement that the company has put out). I think there is a lot of worse things out there than the wonder plant, just my 2 cents

Smoking anything definitely makes you more susceptible to respiratory infections. Especially if you are passing the pipe around with a group of people.

In my experience, THC as well as psilocybin have been known to cause cardiac enlargement and dysrhythmia, which to my knowledge, are permanent ailments.

However, cardiac enlargement and dysrhythmia aren't really life threatening or for that matter really dangerous, but can cause pretty bad anxiety and can effect lung capactiy.

I know there are a FUCKLOAD of people on here with anxiety problems. A few people have it so bad they apparently have a hard time leaving their homes.

I had to give up cigs and coffee. There is another member on here who did the same thing.

Marijuana is a drug. It is bad for you. Period. Sorry. It isn't healthy to smoke it. To what extent is the question. To quote that dude from the Prince of Pot documentary, "It's somewhere in between coffee and beer."

So obviously, you need to figure out for yourself, what you consider too dangerous to put into your body.

i actually have never heard this before, so basically it would be okay in moderation, llike coffee and beer. i also looked at cardiac enlargment, and it could be life threatening. which is kind of scary.

Cardiac enlargement? WTF?  I know it can effect blood pressure, but I would need a source for that one.

Yeah, I've only been able to find anecdotal evidence of that, if you can point me to a proper study then I can conclude there's some merit in the claim.

I fall into that boat. Perhaps people with anxiety have a tendency to turn to marijuana rather than cannabis causing these anxieties? I'm not sure which side of that coin is responsible for the correlation. I've had anxiety issues for the whole of my life. Sometimes smoking cannabis brings relief, other times it exacerbates my condition. I strongly feel that that portion is a strain dependent observation. More research needs to be done.

I'm surprised no one has posted this yet so here it is :pipesmoke:

Source: Effects of Cannabis from Erowid

    * increased awareness of senses (eating, drinking, smell)
    * change in experience of muscle fatigue; pleasant body feel; increase in body/mind connection

    * cheek, jaw, facial tension / numbness (less commonly reported)
    * racing thoughts (especially at high doses)

NEGATIVE

    * nausea, especially in combination with alcohol, some pharmaceuticals, or other psychoactives
    * coughing, asthma, upper respiratory problems

WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS (after stopping heavy use)

    * mild to moderate, non-life-threatening withdrawal symptoms occur after daily use in some users.

I was referring to you actually when I mentioned the coffee and cigs thing.

I never ever had any anxiety problems until I began to use pot and psilocybe cubensis mushrooms.

A little over a year ago, I had this horrific addiction to speed and coke. I started having these horrible heart palpitations, where my whole body would pulse all the time. If I drank a cup of coffee, I would literally feel like fainting. I also drank a fuck load of alcohol during the time as well.

I always blamed my heart on that shit, and I turned to pot to help. However, now I'm wondering if pot may have actually aggravated my condition. I don't mind so much anymore to be honest, but yeah I'm not sure why my body is like this now.

Now, what I'd be interested to know is Magash's health status. He claimed in one post that he's been smoking an 8th a day for 10+ years (something like that,) which is... a lot imo.
