But wow, to bring up slavery in that context, there's no way they are the same. But I can see the connections. Being addicted to a drug is like being a slave to it. But only you can set yourself free, no one else can do it for you.

By the by, when was that strange commercial made? Seems pretty dated. I'm guessing the early 70's (?)

I think what coasty is getting at, is that Ricky was a puppet himself. He was the wal-mart of crack for sure but he wasn't on the board of directors, so to speak.

Basically, he was only in it for the money that he saw could be made. Rick wasn't part of, nor privy to, the underlying reasons why this drug was being brought in by the U.S. government.

Which was and still is a racially motivated plot to profit from the suffering of others by preying on our basic human weaknesses.
