So has anyone heard about the 1gig internet service Google is supposed to start offering soon?

That is an insane connection speed for public use, whole communities could share a single network. I mean you could download media faster than you could read all the file names. Just think what will be possible when Google teams up with these companies offering city wide wireless coverage already.

they wont do it i dont think
thats too fast, the internet has limits, and thats beyond what it could handle im pretty sure
you would have to change the equipment in your home, the office, the schools everywhere for the hardware to be able to handle it

I'm not so sure about that mhbound. Gigabit networks have been around for a long time. Some corporation use multi gigabit fiber lines to link their offices to the internet.
The technology is there, it's just a question of being practical in my opinion. A download only goes as fast as the upload. Unfortunately there isn't much out there that you CAN download at anywhere near that speed. Even on TPB.
I think if anything it will be a shared community connection free wifi kind of thing. Meaning yes it is 1gigabit, but a fuck ton of people are using it.  There are tons of setups like that in my home country.

yea i can see that, i was mainly talking about EVERYONE having a gigabit connection..
i just dont see it, i do think they will be more available like you said, but not like some of these articles make it seem
