This thread is for the few psytrance lovers on here. Anyone feel free to add to it, I will keep updating it as i find new tracks i think you will like.
The idea is that if someone is tripping, and wants to hear good psychedelic music this thread will be available to them as an archive, and also for anyone else who is curious about psytrance.
Only one rule, please no infected mushroom.

"Truth (Motion Drive Remix)" by Perfect Stranger - Its a Progressive House track, but it sounds a lot like Psy-trance. Actually, I would just consider it a sub-type of Psy-Trance, because thats what Progressive House pretty much is.
^^^Wow, that Cosmosis track was awesome. It did sound like Shpongle. In fact, the beginning of the track sounded a lot like my favorite Shpongle song "Dorest Percepton", and then it turns into that track on an intense trip of acid. Crazy tempo with insane energy.

Almost forgot about this one. Will you consider a remix by Infected Mushroom DoItAgain? Its mostly GMS.
You like them right? I promise you, its a good psy-trance track.
I loved this track back in High-School.

^In fact, I liked it sooooo much, I took the quote from the song "Life is but a Dream, as we are all the Imaginations of Ourselves" for my senior quote in the year book. My second choice was "The mind is like Parachute: It works better when its not ripped!" but I thought it was a little much, even for a stoner)

Cool, what about psy-trance/metal hybrids? As know as Goa-Rock or Butt-Rock. Do you like that sub-genre?
Because I know a lot of tracks by 1200 micrograms I want to post here, but only if its OK with you.
So, what do ya think of Metal+psy-trance? I personally think its one of the best hybrids in music. They fit so well together...

lol i have never heard 1200mics referred to as butt-rock but yeah that is cool man, any goa, nitzhonot, full-on morning, full-on night,twilight, progressive trance/tech/house (as long as it's psychedelically influenced,") dark, forest, suomi sound, minimal, psy-tech, psy-breaks, psybient etc... It's all cool except the ridiculous new shit of infected mushroom.
I'm just using psytrance as a catch-all for all these varied and unique derivative forms. If you're down under they call it doof, and in the middle east its just known as trance.

Wow, I've never heard of all those sub-genres. And those are just for psy-trance?! Damn!
And About that name "Butt Rock". I got that name from this really cool site called Ishurs Guide to Electronic Music which has just about every genre and sub-genre Electronic Dance Music types around. And the coolest thing about the site is that its organized into a flow-chart "branching out" that shows when genres started in time.
Very cool. And each sub-genre has its own little section of looped song samples and witty comments by Ishurs. What a great idea to complie it all into one place.
I remember spending hours one day looking at all the sub-genres and listening to its music. Thats where I discovered my favorite EDM genre: Funky House.

yeah basically, it started with goa which israelis who went to india after finishing their army service brought the music back to israel, when the police in israel began busting parties nitzhonot "victorious trance" began as a way of making a high energy music that maintained a consitent level of energy, so even if a party got busted after an hour people got their kicks in. Nitzhonot ditched the melodies, and as a reaction to that, full-on was born to bring back the melodies. Then other countries started evolving their own styles of psytrance, suomisaundi is from finland originally, and also popularly produced in australia. twilight psy from south africa, dark psy is slightly higher bpm than full-on with less focus on melody, forest psy is basically replicating the sounds of the forest at a high speed thus producing melody and psychedelia.
heres an example of good dark-forest trance.
psykovsky-the wild thyme blows
Progressive house/tech/trance are basically the same genre now, just progressive.

Wow DoItAgain, that "Timecode" track was cRaZy! I especially loved it at minute 5:13 with all the crazy voice cuts and edits...wow! Never heard anything like it.
As for the melody, it reminded me a lot of one of my favorite metal/psy-trance blended songs, "Acid for Nothing"....but its nothing like the intricate and unpredicable pattern of Timecode...which makes me lOvE that track so much more!

Haha glad ya enjoyed it, timecode is actually the name of teh record label though, name of the song is Hardcore.
Here's a track i just put on my channel, it might not be exactly what you're looking for but its close.
And ignore the timecode picture on this one as well, this wasn't even released on timecode label but its got a simlar sound to timecode tracks.

^ "Solaris (GMS Remix)" by Astrix. This is also one of my favorite psy-trance songs of all time, and the crazy style of "Hardcore" really reminded me of it. The main lyrics by the women always gives me chills! :shivering-germilin-here:
- I also made a music video for Astrix's back in 2007 using lots of psy-fi big-budget movies (like "Solaris", the movie its based on), TV shows, and art from Erowid, and I would post it up in YouTube, but my account would be cancelled for copyright infringement (its happened before with a video I made for Hallucinogen's "LSD" track). And I would post it here (sinces copyright laws don't apply here), but the file is like 100MB, and a 10MB version would look horrible. If you guys want, I can post a short ~2 minute clip of my favorite part. That would be still kinda cool right? Or is there a Illegal version of "YouTube" where I can post copyright-protected material?
DoItAgain: Yeah, that one you posted isn't as good as the "Hardcore" one. Actually, it makes me love the original track *that* much more.
I think they should change the title of it thou: instead of "Hardcore" it should be called "The Best F&%$King Psy-trance track ever". I think that fits the mood of the song a lot better.
Well, I can think of one track that is similar to so-called "Hardcore"....and its got an awesome use of dialog from the sci-fi movie "Gattaca", which are my favorite type of psy-trance: the ones that use movie quotes for psychedelic experimentation.

Its called SoundCloud, and it has TONS of music people uploaded! Best part: no copyright laws! I love it!

I just found this killa psy-trance remix of Daft Punk's "Harder Faster" called: Work is Harder (Daft Punk + psy trance)
I have another remix that is more well-made and is better in some other ways, but its only 2 minutes long (its a free sample from a site), which is nothing in psy-trance music.
But this track is awesome...so emotional, but still trippy.
I'm going to be looking for more at that site. If you need help recording the track to your H.D., I'm here to help

As for the "Hardcore" track: Is it by itself or part of a long dj set mix (I prefer the former).

I just found this Killer Psy-trance/Breaks hybrid track that just rocks me into another dimension! It even sounds like one of my favorite Shpongle tracks "Shpongolese Spoken Here" and other parts from their latest album "Ineffable Mysteries from Shpongleland".

lol it is all good, but you should have clicked the link and you would have discovered it that much earlier. ;-)
singles vs mixes. If you think singles are a journey well thats kinda the purpose of a well-crafted mix, if im playing for a crowd i can't just play a bunch of songs one after another, i have to put them together smoothly so that the beat doesn't stop, the tracks kinda come together into one long story.
dj-sets are also nice because not all psy-trance released is good, a dj-set has the advantage of being only the choicest beats.
the hardcore track is in a mix a good 30 minutes in i believe, i actually got halfway through re-recording the final version and realized i had a mid-term to study for, so it'll probably be up tomorrow night.
its high quality mp3, wav would be like 700 megabytes lol.
that psybreaks ttrack was good if you like that genre you'll prob like this

Intro - 0:58 = Pissed me off so much, I wanted to slap somebody! Its blasphemy of just great movies! How dare they make a
stupid intro to an awesome song! Its just not right!
After that....way better!
1:00 - 1:30 = Awesome
1:30 - 2:00 = OK
2:00 to 3:36 = Awesome again
3:36 - 4:48 = Sounded kinda like Shpongle's "Shpongle Spore" track...major plus!
4:49 - 6:00 = Its getting intense! And I like it!
6:01 - 6:30 = A little weird, but not too bad.
6:31 - 7:30 = Back to Shpongle-esque ambient melody...nice!
7:30 to end = Pretty cool outro. I dig the bass. Classic Psy-trance.
Artifackt - "Idiot Song"
Intro to 1:50 = Just plain annoying. Again, I wanted to slap somebody...
1:50 - 2:00 = too weird
2:40 - 4:00 = Nice sound. Enjoyed it.

i've made some notes on you're notes, mainly the fact that the intro is not a blasphemy of great movies but a tribute to them. I happen to think it's really well-done, some people aren't gonna like it cause of the farting but that's just cause certain people are too immature to find farting funny. The purpose of the intro is to give a humorous and light-hearted touch to the dance floor.
Also i noticed some of the parts where you don't like tend to be the lulls where the song kind of takes a breather, let me just take this opportunity to remind you that full-on psy is dance-floor oriented music and if it was full-power throughout the entire song the dancer never gets a chance to re-orient himself/take a breather. When you approach a psy-song you have to look at it as dance floor music, the only true way to listen to a psytrance song is to dance to it.
And try to be open-minded about weirdness in psy, weirdness is just a moniker to describe that which is unfamiliar, the best psy is usually the weirdest stuff, psytrance is all about embracing your inner-freak, which is why i love the sample from these songs.
Especially the quote in the artifakt song where it goes "it is up to people like you and me, who are out of our tidy little minds, to try and help these people to overcome their sanity," that gets a big re-action from all the acid-heads tripping in the crowd.
The GMS song you posted has a nice sound, but doesn't really grab ahold of me like the songs i choose to play in my sets.
But hey personal tastes is personal tastes, and ppl will like that they like, I generally go with what I enjoy to dance to, and i usually test out my tracks by dancing to them before i even play them in front of a crowd.
But if you like different far be it from me to insult you for it.

Yeah, I guess your right, weirdness is in the hands of the bearded magician (or however it goes).
And thanks for taking notes on my notes. My opinions feel more valued than every before!
I just didn't like the intro because it just didn't sound pleasant, and the fact it was using just sound effects as a "melody". But as you said, to each their own. I've noticed thru this thread that you like the experimental hard-hitting, total weirdnes, no-letting-up stuff and I like more "traditional", should I say "simplier" psy-trance like GMS and Space Tribe. I guess there's diversity in every person, even in the broad but somewhat focused genre of Psy-Trance...
But I have to say, I'm REALLY glad you didn't post any dark Psy. I Hate Dark Psy, especially Minimal Dark Psy! Likely the worst, most depressing music I've ever heard. So you get big for not playing that sub-sub genre. Your picks maybe a little weird to me at times (except "Hardcore", that one rules!), but at least you didn't visit the Dark Side...
And I totally agree with the "grab a hold of me" idea....I think I know what you mean. For me, that "Grab a hold of me" feeling came from that track 'Astrix - Solaris (GMS Remix)'. Every time I hear that song, especially the peak with the women speaking, I get a surreal sense of wonder, amazement, and "Awe" I only get from Psy-Trance songs...So if that's what you're talking about, then I know what you mean.
Of course I got that same "surreal" feeling from "Hardcore", especially at the vocal cut part, that feeling that I discovered something special, meaningful, unique, even spiritual that I've never heard before. Only Psy-Trance does that for me. And Shpongle of course, but that's a different genre...
And you have no way insulted me for saying I'm weird for not liking those tracks in their entirety. I find it humbling really, makes me appreciate other peoples perspectives and feelings toward music, that my taste in music is no way a reflection of everyone else's. It has taught me to respect differences in taste, even if I don't enjoy it myself.

lol i like good darkpsy, but very much of it released is crap and its very inaccessible to new psy fans beacause they have no way of finding good shit.
This is psykovsky a true genius of the genre
THC-- you prob won't like these tracks but im putting them in here for anyone who would like to hear some good darkpsy.
Too me darkpsy is pure dance floor music, and it only sounds good on a good system, if you're just using normal computer speakers without a sub-woofer dont even bother playing darkpsy as you won't be able to hear it properly. it will just sound like noise.
However as a dj, there are already a wealth of darkpsy djs in so-cal and my favorite style to play is the more melodic night full-on, which is almost in between full-on psy and dark.
That D_maniac track you enjoyed so much is pure night full-on, incorporating both elements of full-on and dark. Sometimes regular full-on trance just feels to soft for me.
I like an agressive dance floor sound.
obviously you know that feeling i am talking about, that has only really come to me listening to psy, or otherworldly bands like tool and pink floyd, even shpongle (still psy) just downtempo and more ambient compared to full-on

lol goa trance originated from goa and it the first goa came from there, but psy-trance proper really began in Israel, and from there spread throughout the world. Its now produced all over the world and Israel has always had a great multitude of world class psy-producers. Other countries that have good psy scenes are brazil, south africa, all of south america, australia, germany a lot more.

I had some mixed feelings about this one, but overall, I enjoyed it more than some of the other ones you posted (except "Hardcore", that's a different class altogether).
Overall, I'll give it out of 5.
"Frogology" by Oood (personal short review)
0:00 - 2:00 Very cool intro with the ambient frog sounds. Reminds me of Shpongle and Space Tribe. That's psytrance intros done right!
2:00 - 2:55 Too simple. 
2:57 - 3:59 I really like the little organic psy-tones and weird sound effects.
4:00 - 4:29 Sweet drum beat.
4:30 - 5:10 - Melody A little too minimal for me. I like more dynamic.
5:11 - 5:23 But then it picks up into that complex goodness!
5:24 - 5:50 And then back to minimal...
5:50 - 7:14 Sweet beat! And sweet build-up! Nice! 
7:15 - 7:39 - Cool psy-tones!
7:40 - 8:24 Best part! But its so late in the track! Why!.....
8:25 - 9:01 Interesting outro. Almost sounds like a bullfrog....

on that oood song, you asked why the climax comes so late in the song, keep in mind that the song was designed to be mixed into a dj set, Either at the beginning as an intro somewhere already in progress, you cannot play an entire 8 minute song in your set, you have to mix-in-mix out and keep the flow of the party moving.
If you want the climax you'd mix your song a few minutes in, and if you wanted to use it as in intro you'd mix out before the climax hit because you don't want to hit your climax that early ina set.

Not too bad, but its a little too harsh and "basic" (i.e. generic) for me....
But its sweet that they have a full album on the Internet.
I just found this cool track at SoundCloud....
Psyex & dj slider - tribal dance - (psy trance vocal remix)
^Its pretty much a blend of mostly Psy-trance, some Poppy trance (kinda lame, I know), and some Techno Dance, all mixed into one. What I love about it the most is the vocal edits in the beginning, and the vocals thru-out the track.....thats my favorite type of psy-trance, ones with a little vocals in them (see "Hardcore"). And at 4:20, it REALLY gets Psy-Tranced out! Only shitty thing about it is these annoying "verbal ads" for some radio station, but it sounds middle-eastern (not sure), so I guess its cool.

there's a pretty good psy thread over at shroomery, just noticed this one for the first time. i've only been listening for like a month and it's some really nice stuff. i have a whole new appreciation for electronic as a guitar player and started making some stuff in cubase too. it's a very cool musical outlet.

And guwess what, after I went to the Shpongle Concert in Portland Last Friday, I went to a small Progressive/Psy-Trance party in Portland on Saturday. It was so sick. The beginning was slow, then picked up to Techno, then Tech-House, then Progressive, then finally Psy-Trance. It was an interesting progression of music.
And the Psy-trance sounded just like GMS, my favorite Psy artist. And one Dj even pl.yed a live guitar and said some trippy things over a filtered PA. It was so cooL! Live Psy-Trance Rules!
And it was interesting was the New Age/religious vibe around the very small downstairs party....clear crystals, Egyptian-esque fabrix on the walls, trippy alternative art, organic food....very weird, but cool too.
Also, I just listened to that "Return to Tunguska" Alan & Shpongle track....pretty crazy guitar riffs....not my favorite style, but definitely interesting and unique in its own right. I like the ambient background tones and the tribal percussion....very nice...
Now, its time to listen to some of your new links you got above^^. So much music, I can't keep up!

Lol I'm already in southern-cali as I live there, but yeah I'm starting to some gigs pretty regularly these days, I'm pretty pleased with how fast things are moving considering I got my first gig at a college party in January. Yeah it's a different style, psy-ambient and not psytrance, nothing i could play in my set but very relaxing before bed.
And i just love that the guitar was played by the guitarist from pink floyd, it's like the old psychedelic gods meeting the new.
Desert parties here never get busted, at least i've never heard of that happening, glad you enjoyed your time at the psytrance party. It's amazing how nice the vibes at these things could be, the last party i played with an act called Intersys and it was pretty incredible, everyone was just all smiles the entire night.
My last song I jumped off the stage and started dancing with the crowd, and a fan came up to me and handed a joint. It was a pretty cool feeling.

Ever heard of Bluetech? How about Pitch Black (New Zealand)? They are my favorite this far. Oh, and some zer0 0ne...good stuff there. Some of Z.0. is a little weird, but a lot is pretty nice.

no it's not a secret i just forgot, my dj name is Deli-Fi. And it's basically a spin on the word Hi-Fi as in high fidelity, because i want my sets to be faithful to the spirit of psychedelia, and all my tracks to be very psychedelic unlike some psytrance that barely feels psychedelic at all, i'm not naming any names.

Oh Delifi huh...sounds familiar. And yes, I am familiar with "Hi-Fi". When I record off Soundcloud, I always record in Wav. And all my CD;s they are ripped to wave too. If I had my turntable over here, I would be playing vinyls, because there's no more Hi-Fi quality than vinyl records....48,000 khz of pure, warm goodness....

So you don't Like Skazi? Aww...come on. They aren't that bad. Sure, its more poppy-trance then real psy-trance, but they got some hypnotic stuff....but Skazi is not my favorite, but there are a couple melodic trance songs I liked from them....just a couple, don't worry.
Well, right on Dj Deli-fi. Can I call you Del-Fi? Has a nice sound to it. But Deli-fi si cool too. Sounds almost like "Dahli" fi.
Anyway, its really cool knowing a Dj, even if only by Internet. Someday, I wanna be a Dj too. I would play some different stuff, mostly Funky House, Funky Tech-House, Ploy-Rhymtic Tech-House and Psy-Trance remixes of Shpongle and Space Tribe. Oh, and I would be a turntablist, mixing in scratches and beat-juggling. Because for me, Djing all started in Underground Hip-Hop.....

lol I record my stuff to .FLAC which i prefer to wave because its as good of quality, but lower file-sizes. Don't mess around with Vinyl, most psytrance never comes out in vinyl. One could use timecode vinyl but the genre doesn't really lend itself well to turntablism, so it's considered unnecessary. But if you can do it effectively with psy then props to you. That's something i'd like to see.
At my last gig they had cdj's as well as technics and all the DJs were loling about the technics because no one used them and they had like piles on dust on top of them.
So yeah psy either cdj's or Traktor with a good controller is the way to go.

Thats what my friend said in Portland...no psy-trance dj's use vinyl either...its a shame really. Vinyl is a dying art. It sounds so much richer to me when I hear vinyl psy-trance....so dense and detailed....
I heard it only once, it was at the best outdoor party I've ever been to, in the woods, very seduced with "drive 2.2 miles" kind of directions. Best part, no cops on the way! Oh man, those were the days.....
Anyway, at this outdoor "cliff-seclusion" rave, they had 2 regular vinyl turntables, and they played a more psychedelic remix version of "Cities of the Future" by Infected Mushroom. It was so sick. I remember that vividly now. Good times....
Its funny you say "Technics". I actually own a Stanton Mixer and Turntable. Likely the cheapest "known" brand right? They work pretty good. Definitely not professional, but they still work great for there price, and they are pretty old now (about $150, 7 years ago).
So that "Traktor", that's those new turntables thats both vinly and digital right? It works with a computer, that plays the record synced to a program that plays the song from a computer? If so, that's what I want. Its the closest thing to an actual vinyl record. But I'm old-skool (even thou I'm young), all my hip-hop music I use is on vinyl. Just feels cooler that way.
But thats me.

Well, its been awhile since you have updated DoItAgain, likely because you are Dj'ing these days no?!
Here's a track I just uploaded to my Soundcloud account.
The track is from a CD I was randomly given at a rave a couple months ago. I have no idea what the song is named, or who made it, or any info on it, but I do know its true Psy-Trance.
Track01 - Psy Sitar-Banjo - Unknown Psy-Artist
^Maybe you DoItAgain can figure out who made it or what the track is called. Not sure if it was made locally in Eugene, OR (the place I got the CD) or if its a mix CD of mainstream Psy.
As from the title, the main instrument is a stringed instrument, which my guesses are Banjo or Sitar. I'm leaning toward Sitar because Psy-Trance came from India, and so does the Sitar. Let me know what it actually is (if ya know).

Well, I heard the first 3, then D_manics "Drop your Ego" and A-Team's "Yottabyte".
First off, D_Manics "Drop Your Ego" is one of my favorite in that list. I love that Pulp Fiction sample with Samuel Jackson mid-way thru it. Very nice. Such craziness too. Not as good as "Hardcore", but still amazing. Love those crazy beat-drops! WhOaA!
And A-Team's "Yottabyte". Man that track is InTeNsE! Second favorite by far. I was head-banging so hard to this track, I hurt my neck. Ow! Still hurts....
Good stuff DoIt.
And, and one more thing. Nice job on the album cover art for D_Manic and A-Team. :thumbsup: Much less confusing than the "Timecode" cover. And D_Manic's got some cool-ass font. The "M" as a lotus flower. So cool...

lol thanks glad you enjoyed the tracks, and FYI the D_maniac track hardcore had the proper album art. It was released on a compilation by Timecode records and that was the cover they used, confusing maybe, but accurate nonetheless.

Nice psy-Trance psytrancerules! Reminds of GMS....slightly too dark for me, but still sounds really good. I love the guitar-like sounds in the first one.
