I just recently got into phish. I always dismissed them as crap (as they do have their fare share of crap)...but damn now that I've listened to a shit ton of phish I'll say 90% of the stuff they've made live or recorded is really really really good (especially their covers of other songs). They've made some A1 stuff.
So yeah to the OP I highly recommend phish if you haven't heard them.
The flaming lips is just amazing, anything by the beatles, the velvet under grown, Captain Beyond (they are the first super group and made two crazy ass concept albums), Anything by buffalo Springfield, 13th Floor Elevators (very psychedelic shit).

I use Reason 4, a MIDI keyboard and some basic Wave editing software.
Most of the music I've made so far is online at www.youtube.co.uk/user/psytrancedan
I've got an evil D&B tune in the works at the moment. Will post it when its finished.

First time posting, and I want to express that I am not affiliated with this fest, but rather a fan of the music being performed and trying to get the word out. Austin Psych Fest III (4/23-25) - music and psychedelic visuals start automatically when going to website:
