 More Advice Needed (craigslist)

ok
well we found the perfect little shak on maui,
ive been talkin to the guy, and so far believe everything hes told me as truths
its part of this guys 4 acres where his house is also. ive been talking to the guy all day long. and as far as i can tell he seems like a real genuine guy. Hes a junk collector(it not really junk, its all the rich ppl in mauis stuff that he buys and resells all over the world. his website is www.omsweetom.com )
anyway, hes been talkin all day long about helpin me find work and this and that, and ill just get right to it, hed like for us to put a little money down to hold it for him until we get there.
like i said i trust the guy, but as many of you know, i trust the wrong ppl sometimes.
i know most of you will say dont do this, but what are some things that i could tell him to give me, so i know that i wont get f*cked over?
ill give yall the craigs list listing if youd like to look at it. i mean its just a lil shanty. nothin special. hes given me the address and i looked it up on google and everything adds up, im just skeptical about shelling out money to someone on a trust basis now...
opinions? thoughts? advice?

If he's asking for money up front, it's probably a scam. I wouldn't trust him.

this is the last email ive recived from him. this is after we talked all day about the property and helping around the property as workexchange for rent.

what do you think i could ask HIM for to assure he doesnt scam me?
like full name of course. social maybe, and that way i can check up on everything. and then i guess if he trips about this, then i can rule it out...

What are his reasons for the money. Explain to him that although he sounds like a trustworht honest guy you dont feel comfortable handing out money.

I wouldn't send him shit, unless you meet someone and get a receipt, do not put money down for shit.
I have known a lot of people who rip others off on craigslist. Lots of scams going on..

nah, its allllllll gravy. a friend of mine in Maui(yall know him from the shroomery too) went and checked the guy out, his businesses out, and the property out...
i told him im sending him the check, but i have a hold on it until he call me and sends me a recipt of having it, and then ill lift the hold.
it all checked out. like i said it all seemed gravy, but after gettin took by my own friend, im kinda skeptical right now. but this guy is good people. he says he can get Natalie and I jobs and help us with a vehicle, and that i can do ANYTHING to the house i want
so its all gravy baby's! just keep good vibes comin my way, theyre all thats gettin me by right now
