Yes, it is absolutely possible to be patriotic while still hating the government. To me being patriotic is an undying love of one's country. The United States in this case. A country is represented by it's people, not these assclowns that are routinely elected into office (not talking about anyone specific). I enjoy (for the most part) the people of this country.
I like how different people act in different ways in different parts of the country. I like the diversity (at least in the cities). Nothing would be more boring and ridiculous than an entire country full of clones. In this country you can go about your business and do things the way you want to and live your life the way you see fit, so long as nobody is harmed and no part of the government would ever know (they are not as far reaching as conspiracy theorists would have you believe).
Of course it isn't without flaws. No country is. One major problem that relates to the herb we all love, is the goddamn snitch. People who would turn on someone at the slightest application of pressure. It's to the point where a cop could drive by someone, mean mug him, and that guy would be ready to snitch out anybody and everybody only because he has no goddamn idea what to do if encountered by the police.
These..fuck it. We're all fucked.

I'm late and most of my points have been made. I just wanted to get in on this thread saying fuck the government!
Backing a government that is bad for your country is the opposite of being patriotic. There is no question about it.
