I like the taste of alcohol but I hate the effect

I like beer (not picky about the kind as long as its not shitty piss-like beer) and I love red wine. It goes great with weed and a decent meal like something meaty :homerdrool:

But I seriously can't stand the ethanol intoxication :awedisgust: It feels so lame and retarded I cant understand why people are so obsessed with it. I probably wouldn't mind being slightly drunk with a girl but thats all.

Which do you like better: taste or effects?

Personally i love the taste of wine, and some whiskeys, Vodka is okay sometimes too. But thats about it. Beer, eh usually it's pretty gross.
I don't really like getting drunk because after the first hour i get sick.

Whiskey is neat as long as I have some nuts to go with it :jb: I guess a glass will make me feel relaxed but anything more than that is not for me.

I hate how my classmates think I'm lame since I can't drink unhealthy amounts without getting sick. Fuck them!! They also think Im a fucked up person cause I like to smoke weed every now and again :facepalm:

people get fuddy-duddy in my experience... except for like maybe three friends that i've known in my life, none have others have been able to hold their liquor.

I can drink like an irish fish....... but lately I just have a beer or 6 a week. I used to buy a bottle of whiskey every week and a 6pk of yuengling every night. Eventually I just decided I'd rather not be a drunk, but I still love the taste of any good beer or hooch.

Mmmm, yuengling is good. I love basically all mexican beers. Imports are my usual preference but the Sam Adams variety is cool.

Beer's taste is just so delicious, and I love a good buzz but one drink easily turns to 5-6 on the daily. I wonder if the bar is open today :strokebeard:

The only alcoholic beverage I really enjoy is good beer, really good beer :thumbup: . Definitely drinking for taste and not for the effects.


I usually have a beer with dinner a few times through out the week, goes great with certain foods and a small amount of alcohol regularly is healthy as well as great for digestion. When hanging out with friends that are drinking I'll have a few beers and catch a light buzz, that's about it. I don't mind a buzz, but getting drunk is not my thang. Alcohol just makes me sleepy and lethargic anyways, some people get way to stimulated and pumped off of alcohol.

I've always liked the extra stout because it has some fizz to it and a good taste but draught is harder to get down. I drink it though and dont even make a face............ something that takes some time to achieve.:smirk:

I like mexican beers but once I get going I can drink anything usually
most normal nights I can down 8-12 beers and sometimes 1 to 1 1/2 bottles of wine

two weeks ago I downed 2 bottles of wine a bottle of champaigne and 12+ beers plus some shots(4 or 5)
while i was black out, I didn't puke. with in a few hours

I just am in my drinking faze, I can't handle more than one bowl right now though.

I use to be the exact opposite, that is why i joined the site.
I just lost my taste for the high.

which is why I was saying it was possibly just a point in life thing.

I like a small buzz from beer mixed with weed, goes together great, otherwise I agree with OP, I can't stand the effects, and most of the crowd it draws, I really can't see the appeal the millions of people find for it.. :shrug:

Beers don't even effect me anymore unfortunately, but I drink Rolling Rock by the case.

Yesterday at the bar everyone was drinking coors light and bud light while I was sipping on Bombay on the rocks.  I like sipping on my liquor real slow like.  I have come to love the burn and it makes my dick hard so it's a win win.  Sipped on some 15 year old scotch this weekend too.  Dalwhinnie. :drooling:

i've come to appreciate the taste of good liquor more these days too.  when i was younger i would just chug the nasty shit just to get drunk.  old stuff is good too.  i sipped like half a glass of louie the 13th once too, shit was fuckin awesome.
