anyone know what the "Expected Family Contribution (EFC)" is?
i got a 2610. but i have no idea what that means with funding
now that i filled that out whats the next step. go to my financial aid advisor and talk to her in like a week?
how long does the fafsa take before you know how much money your getting and when the check comes. and who do i need to talk to about if im elligable for the pale grand or stafford loans

You will probably get the money...You won't get much, or at least I didn't get a whole lot...But it was without interest. I think that's the one. I have like 3 loans out right now. 
Is that the federal financial aid?

You will find out how much financial aid you are getting once your school receives your financial aid information from FAFSA, usually takes a couple of weeks after you get you EIC score. There is no way of knowing what the EIC score means because it means something different to each school
I would just keep checking with your school

You SHOULD be fine. I know I got help from the school I was at, and they sent it straight to them. As long as the school is involved they will likely go ahead, and credit you while waiting on it to return...If they feel you will be credited or whatever.

The school will pay themselves first out of your financial aid, you dont have to worry about anything. After the school has paid themselves then they will send you anything remaining (I suggest you sign up for direct deposit).
My disbursement date is the 9th as well, it generally takes 2-5 days to get your refund.

yeah the EFC is your Estimated Family Contribution. If you put what school you were goin to on the pell grant then the EFC is generally in relation to that. My school always credited me and didn't erase my schedule or anything and let my loan go through. it takes a few weeks after that to get the surplus(assuming there's shit left over after tuition and books).

when i was in highschool some woman came and helped us out. that was a while ago though i just use my school's financial aid office. there's organizations that are set up for like lower income people to help them figure all that shit out. i just went there cus i didn't feel like doin it myself

no, when you file FAFSA your school will automatically receive how much you get in Pell Grant. you dont need to do anything extra

yah, you apply for aid through your school with your FAFSA. Then you get thrown into a pool of other people. Each school gets a certain amount of aid each year to hand out so the earlier you get your FAFSA in the better. Then according to your FAFSA they figure out how much subsidized and unsubsidized you are eligible for and hand it out to you. The more dependent you are on the government to get through school, the more you get back in the form of a refund to live on. However, keep in mind those refund checks are money you have to pay back so it ain't free. I get about 4 grand a semester in refunds.
Have you chosen a private lender and filled out your MPN? If you're really confused about aid the best thing to do is to make an appointment with your financial aid adviser. They'll be able to answer any questions you may have, show you how much you'll be getting back per year, how much is going to pay off school, how much of that money you will need to pay back, etc. It's in your best interest to know as much as possible about this stuff otherwise you can end up getting screwed later. I've had a lot of bad experiences with my financial aid getting fucked up so the earlier you learn the better.
Also EFC is how much money you think your parents are going to give you to help you live over the semester. Are you considered a dependent or independent?

EFC isnt really that though, I had a high EFC also and ended up going completely free. I get about 3,500 a year in subsidized loans (the max. for freshman)

You can have a high EFC and go completely free, but it does effect the amount of money you receive in your refund checks. When i was a dependent i received like a grand a semester and paid nothing in tuition. When i went independent i started getting 3-4 K in refund and still paid nothing.
EFC = Expected Family Contribution = how much money you get from your rents per month per semester. This is something i've had to go over a lot of times

I know what EFC stands for, but the number value they assign as your score isnt neccessarily the amount of money they expect your parents to contribute.
Especially because I believe the OP filled as a independent.
