DWC vs TABLES(Ebbn'Flow)
    #152133 - 11/27/08 03:57 AM (8 years, 14 days ago)

Yee so who thinks which is superior?

I see tons of people claiming DWC produces bigger yields but theres issues with root rot from what I see commonly.

Also for a large portion of the day aren't roots better off dry so they can take in oxygen?

Does anyone have any yield comparisions? *Cough* Magash *Cough*

I'm not one who is real fond of dwc. I tend to like the roots to be exposed to air myself. I had a fellow grower who grows the same strains as I do but seems to get lower yields. I finally told him blow bubbles on your roots and your gonna keep getting the same results. He changed to ebb and flow and his yields went up.

Just seems better to have roots in the air and ad moisture to them rather then having them in the water and adding air to them. There not kelp.

word

I unno man, a lot of guys(refering to guys on ICMAG)  have some idea that constant feeding = optimal yields.

I am all for DWC. As long as your air pump is sufficient (which is 90% of people problems with DWC IMHO) you will have excellent results. Having constant access to the nutrients they need really seems to give me some fast and healthy ladies.

That said, each has pros and cons based on growing style. Obviously you don't want to grow trees on an ebb and flow table or SoG in individual DWC buckets. (Yes, both of these can be done but at a loss of yield.)

Im with magash, although I dont have any experiance roots hanging in water just doesnt seem optimal. Why not go with aeroponics?

I do not have experience in Ebb n Flow; but i can say that I agree w/ very much enjoying DWC.  You need a good air pump to produce extra oxygen for the roots; not all roots are exposed or dumped into the water, only most feeder roots.  this causes a very humid enviroment for the other unexposed to the fluid roots to suck in oxygen easily, and it keeps plenty of moisture so they do not dry out.

Biggest problem I would say is dealing w/ salt build up if you are inexperienced . . . sometimes its fine to just added ph adjusted water instead of more nutes/etc so it gives the roots some cleaning up while keeping it from becoming phytotoxic in there.

I know this is a dead thread, but I wanted to resurrect it based on the point its making. DWC vs TABLE, which is better?

I've always liked DWC... this whole notion that roots need to be in open air goes against the idea of root pruning. Roots shouldn't be in open air.

I've been testing both methods for about a year now. For my larger mothers I've decided to go with the dwc cause it's easier to care for larger plants using them. Even when using two gallon ebb and flow pots.

For flowering plants large or small I've decided to stay with the ebb and flow.

For large flowering plants I use this system

For the Mothers I use this system

Both systems work killer for both ways of growing. Comes down to what you like. :potleaf:

What people have to remember no matter what system you use the plants always have access to water and nutrients.

As far as Aeroponics go I can't comment cause if I haven't done it (other then cloning) I don't comment.
