Indoor grow (G PURPS) * 1
    #851804 - 11/10/21 06:07 AM (2 years, 4 months ago)

So I finally found some seeds in some g purps I bought from the dispensary. Long story short I planted 3 in a pot with potting soil on the 4th of this month. 2 just popped up yesterday :rockman: I'm thinking of ordering a 1000w LED and just grow them inside....

OR I may grow them inside until spring and then transplant them outside...I did that last year and got 2 monsters :awehigh:

Anyway here is the g purps little fellas

Do some research before you buy LEDs.  Don't just read the reviews, there is a lot of junk out there.  Many good lights use Samsung LM301B or H diodes, but there are other good diodes out there.  LEDGardener is a good resource to learn from, especially if you were to go the DIY route.

You'd want around 500w of LED to cover a 4x4 area for flower, about half that if you're just vegging under it.

I'd flower them out inside, but take clones while they're in veg in case one of them turns out to be special.  That way you can veg the clones while you flower the mothers, and you'll have a nice indoor crop as well as a head start on next year's outdoor season.

Yeah I'm not gonna buy an off brand light. I have not decided but for 2 plants 1000w good led should be good enough right?

That depends on how large you want to grow them.  Typically I like to run at least 1 plant per 2x2 space.  If you do one plant per 4x4 footprint, you'll want to use a scrog net along with other training techniques to form an even canopy, and you'll want extra height to allow for the bigger plants.

Rather than one 1000w LED, I would go with two 5-600w LEDs, and grow the two plants under their own lights in their own 4x4 spaces.  Be prepared to spend around $1 per actual watt of power the LEDs consume.

The only reason you'd need 1000w of LED per 4x4 is if the LEDs were inefficient, or you were running a sealed grow with co2.

Hmm thank you for the info. I am choosing led because aren't they cheaper to run compared to the other lights? Im only used to the sun....which is free

LED are more efficient at producing photons, which is why you can get away with using 600 watts instead of 1000 while still getting roughly the same yield.

However, a watt is a watt.  A 600w LED will cost just as much to run as a 600W HPS, maybe slightly cheaper when you take dimming into account, provided you dim the lights during veg.

Oh ok, and by $1 per watt do you mean per month? If so that would not be worth it at all and I will just wait for outdoor season

I guess I'll just do what I did with this  year  with these tall ladies

I started them indoors in like January or February then transplanted outside once it was warm enough.

Sorry, when I said $1 per watt, I meant upfront cost of the light.  A 600 watt light will cost around $600, up to $1200 depending on the brand.

As far as electricity costs go, this tool will help you estimate your monthly power bill.  Just add up the wattage of all your equipment, look up your local energy prices, and plug them into the calculator.

Yeah I kinda worded that weirdly, I haven't had caffeine for about a week now, and am still getting use to life without it.  I seem to go through weed faster without it :feelsbadman:

Soooo......im pretty sure these seeds came from a hermie as it's been a while and they have just not grown at all(they also have not withered either so fuck if I know lmao)

Idk if coming from a hermie would make them grow slower, first things I'd look at would be temp, soil quality, and light intensity.

But they are likely to be hermies based on the fact that it came from an accidental pollination in a facility where sinsemilla flower production was the goal.

That's the main reason I haven't messed with bagseed since the time I grew out a full blown hermie and had my first crop pollinated.

My previous dispo based grow turned out amazing. And this is the exact method I germinated them so.....I think they are duds lol they aren't dying so I'll let them go to see what happens but I guess I'l move on. I have 2 seeds of manderin cookies v3, might plant them to see what happens.

I'm not saying all bagseed is hermies, as you know you can get great plants out of bagseed.  However, it is more of a dice roll.  It sucks to grow out something for months only to find that it's complete garbage.  For me personally, it's not worth growing out dispo bagseed when I have access to better genetics with a higher keeper rate and fewer hermies/runts/mutants.

I still regret not buying more Bodhi packs when they were available.  One of the packs I bought for $70 a few years ago is going for $300 on strainly, other packs are going from $500 to as much as $700 (for 11 seeds!)

My germination method has been a 12-24 hour soak, then planting the seeds in jiffy peat pods.  They can stay in the peat pods for a couple of weeks, but it's best to transplant them to quality soil as soon as the cotyledons open.  I like 1 gallon pots for organic soil until they show sex.  2 gal would be more comfortable, but most of the plants I've run have shown sex in 1 gallon pots given enough time.

Mandarin Cookies v3, that's an Ethos strain, right?  I only ever bought one of their packs, Peach Crescendo, and I am now seeing Peach Crescendo flowers at my local dispo.  Seems a lot of the bigger producers are running Ethos gear.

i've actually *mostly* been running weird offbrand amazon LEDs that all look like the same blackdog/galaxyhydro or whatever ripoff... had the same 3 lights in different areas for 3 years now, doesn't make a noticeable difference to power bill either

I have ONE good real actual brand LED it's a NextLight something something I have to look at the light or the site to remember, but I like to keep it put up until I have a packed tent in flower.

I don't mind buying the cheapo veg/supps over and over again, I want my good one to last as long as possible!
