Weeding out the weaker - Seedlings

In hopes of focusing on 1 plant rather then several, could I say, germinated 5 seeds of 1 particular strain, and from those 5 keep the healthiest one after say a couple weeks to a month and then tossing the others (at least in the sense of priority) to ScrOG the apparent dominant phenotype?
Also for ease of control they would all be feminized.
I hoping to hear from people who have experienced conclusions to draw from.

You could do that. Racing them is a good way to start especially if your just trying to focus on the one and willing to toss the rest off to the side. I wouldn't get rid of the others until you know you don't have one that hermaphrodites on you.
But if your looking for a good mother plant its probably not ideal. Sometimes a plant grows larger buds but of lower quality than the one next to it. Its best to clone them all, flower them out in equal conditions and decide which you like afterward. Then keep that one as the mother plant for next crop.

Speed of and virility of growth does not equate to the best plant when it comes to the final product. So I wouldn't use this method in trying to determine which plants to keep and which to toss.

I usually grow all to finish taking clones of each then decide which one to keep.

That really depends on what qualities you want in your final product. Scent, flavor, effects, product weight, color, etc.
The common thread is that none of this can be determined at an early stage and thus weeded out without first growing out all seedlings. This is why most breeders take clones of each plant, grow them out, and then only keep the clones with the most desirable traits.
That's the beauty and curse of artificial selection. You get the freedom to decide which qualities you want to keep in your own crop, but you also can't easily identify and eliminate characteristics relative to bud quality without first growing out all sprouts.
