4'x3'x14" seedling/clone/veg/sog cabinet

Well ladies and gents, I'm at it again.
This spring project is a 4' wide 3' tall 14" deep
Seedling/clone/veg and maybe...just maybe a SOG/SCROG box.
I have all of the framing lumber. I'm still waiting on the birch plywood, pocket hole jig, 4x120mm fans, 2' T5 light(10,000 lumen), paint and stain.
I'll be scanning the sketch shortly.
Positioning for the fans has not completely been determined.
Feedback always welcome.

What? nobody in the growery has an opinion?
if anybody is curious, that sketch is 1:120 scale.

I was hoping to get some input before i started cutting the frame boards.

hope in one hand and shit in the other i guess.....
see which fills first...

I want to get into SOG, probably on a smaller level, but bigger when I own my own house. I am excited to see progress on this.

Cut most of the framing lumber to size today.
Stained most of the boards a red oak color.
Light should arrive in a couple of days, still have to order my fans.
And I still haven't picked up any plywood...
Ran out of sunlight to get pictures, update's w/ pics soon.

Thinking of using 120mm fans to cool. Will be running 110w of t5.
Any Thoughts?

what's the airflow rating on the fan? 120mm doesn't tell us too much except the diameter

you don't need a huge one. T5's are pretty low heat and your space is small. you might want to consider making it a tad taller than 14" though so you can give them a legitimate head start on life instead of just germinating... but that's just me

and how are you going to access it? the entire lid on a hinge, or slide out the plants on casters? you won't be able to reach the plants in the back unless you have some sort of plan for that.

I'm just going to have two doors in the front, just like an ordinary cabinet. Eventually, i'll divide it to two chambers. one for the mother and clones, and one for a sog/scrog. Making a sliding floor may come later as well but I really don't want to be spending the time on that now as I want to get my seeds started in the next couple of weeks for my outdoor grow this summer.

but don't you think it'll be kinda hard to reach the stuff in the back if it's 4 feet deep but less than 2 feet high? :strokebeard:

4 feet deep? I think he said 21" deep. that's 1 ft 9 inches

oh shite, I mis-read the dimensions. it says 4' x 3' x 14" in the title, and standard operating is to list L x W x H so I assumed the 3 and the 4 were the length and width.

well in that case ignore everything I said :tongue:

Actual dimensions are turning out to be 48"l 21"d 44"h.
Not including the casters i'm planning to throw on it.

I do have one question, Does amperage add? I have 4 120mm fans on order. the all pull .5 amps so i need to know if i need a power supply that kicks out 2+ amps or if 1 the puts out .5 amps will do.

This might be a stupid question, but i could use the help.

My framing lumber all stained up

Prep for assembly

Putting in the pockethole screws.


The sides are done, Still need to assemble the front and back but it's still too cold for my glue to set right. More updates soon.

lights are here. I ordered 4 120mm fans thst kick up to 68cfm.
Also ordered a 12v 4amp power supply.

I'm feeling birch would be good paneling for the sides and door.
Will update again when i get the walls put in.

I haven't quite decided how i'm making the doors....

Rosewill 120mm with 43.5-87.5 cfm
23.5-38.15db
Can't wait to throw them in.
