Newbie grower questions

Hey guys, been on the shroomery for a while and just recently got a whole room that I can designate for anything...It's 15ft long, 12ft wide, and 7 ft tall. It's in the basement but the walls and everything is concrete. I'm planning on spraying insulation, putting up sheet rock, lining the walls with tyvek, and wiping everything spotless. So for the vegetative stage I'm planning on using fluorescent tubes and for the flowering stage I was planning on using a 600W (I hear 600W is ideal) high pressure sodium light. So my question is, do I have to use a MH with every HPS light I use or can I just use a HPS light by itself during the flowering stage. What kind of ballast do I need for those type of lights (T12, T8, etc.) How many plants do you think I can fit in a room that size? How many lights would I need for a room that size?

You can use hps alone and they will do fine.
I'd consider going with a small MH for veg
How many lights depends on how much space is devoted to veg and to flowering.
Plant numbers depend on the same thing and how they are to be grown. Large plants or SOG, soil or hydro and that stuff.

Ok, so I know I just said I have a whole room but I think I should start out smaller...so... I'm thinking of building a grow box that can hold 3 vegetative plants, and converting my closet into a space that holds 6 mature plants. the closet is 22 inches long, 9 1/2 feet wide, and 10 feet tall. So now my only question is how do I blow fresh air into the closet without letting light leak in? (I'll be growing in soil by the way) I'm thinking I could just make a tent of some sort with blankets in front of my closet and just let the blanket sit on top of a box fan so that the box fan can blow fresh air into the closet, I'll keep the light down with the blanket (except for where it wraps around the box fan), and the incline fan can blow air into the attic at the other end of the closet. Thoughts on that?

After doing more research I decided it might be a better idea to build a 4x8 screen of green room with 2 1000w MH lights for the vegetative stage and 2 1000w HPS lights for the flowering stage. make sure the room is insulated well, have 2 fans blowing on each bottom side of the room to discourage mold, and 2 inline fans with a carbon filter at the top middle of the room blowing out. I'd be doing soil and I figured I'd be able to have 15 nice indicas spread out far enough from each other to stretch out. Does that sound legit? Sorry for changing my mind so much just so many options and so many ideas

the best weed is grown hydroponically with lots of ventilation maybe have a co2 fan blowing in and out that and either hyrdroponics or soil if you think you can cure it
