What sort of larvae is eating my plants!
    #798397 - 11/10/15 06:31 PM (8 years, 4 months ago)

So I got a new phone today with a nice camera.. decided to give it a whirl and noticed what my eyes failed to see before. I HAVE LITTLE CREEPY CRAWLIES ON MY CLONES!!!

What could this sort of thing do to a plant mid flower? I have one in a nearby tent. I quarantined this one from 2 other store bought clones that look unharmed. Is it worth treating or is this garbage? the plant was showing signs of stress and slow growth.

I just saw the mid flower part. :P If it were me, I'd keep it quarantined and see who wins the race. Are there visible trichomes yet? A rinse could still be possible.

The affected plant is just a clone i bought last month. My flowering plant looks like crap, you can see from my post history. I had just wondered if maybe that could have been caused by this same infestation, she's since normalized and is forming decent flowers.

I do have a jewelers loupe and they look like tiny plain little tic tac shaped maggots white throughout. I couldn't detect any living movement but the sight was pretty damning. Probably will just toss it, the $15 it cost isn't worth the possibility of spreading.

That said if an adult flowering plant had this midway through flower would it eventually go away? get worse? are the buds going to be garbage? Because my plant shit the bed and has since shed nearly every substantial leaf, but I cant find any of these little buggers on her specifically.

Dude, to be honest I'm not seeing much.  Just hit it with some avid since it's still a baby.

So like this? Because these are thrip nymphs, not quite fully mature. :P Could be a good place to start researching. Have you seen any adults and are there any tiny black dots (thrip feces) on your leaves?

Really close up of an adult and some nymphs.

If you look up a mite's life cycle, they don't really have a stage where they could be mistaken as "worm-like." How well can you see them through your loupe?

Mite Life Cycle

I've just physically squished bug infestations with gloved hands on plants before. It's kind of gross, but it works to lower their numbers. It's also probably worth mentioning that if what you have are in fact thrips, they usually drop into the soil when they're ready to pupate, so they'll be present there, too. Oh, and some of them can fly.

I'll be interested to see what the conclusion is, hope things turn out!

I threw out the affected clone and neem oiled the others in proximity. The seperate flowering tent appears unaffected.
