Can male pollen go bad/expire?

Hey ya'll So I have some male pollen from about a year ago, it's been kept in a small piece of folded tin foil in a dark dry place.
Does it ever lose vitality?
I'd like to breed some plants with this old pollen because it was good genes
Thanks

Did you dry it out prior to storage?

It should be viable.
I store my pollen the same way except in an airtight container and in the freezer. I make single use packets which also makes them easy to label. I cut the pollen with oven dried flour at a rate of 1/4 tsp pollen to 3 tsp flour. This pollen/flour mixture is just as viable as straight up pollen when applied with a brush.
These packets go into glass jars and I have an aspirator to remove the air before sealing.

Oh as far as degrading. Pollen is INCREDIBLY sensitive to water/moisture but is very dry as soon as it drops. I'm not sure how quickly it degrades when exposed to air but I would imagine far quicker than normal storage conditions.
If your plants are ever exposed to unwanted pollen you should spray them down to minimize the damage.
