Okay, so I want to clone the 1 dwarf lemon tree that I have. My question to anyone with experience of cloning fruit trees, or other trees, should I use my 400 watt HPS OR A florescent light? I know that florescent lights are good for cloning, but since it is a tree would the HPS be more effective? Thanks.
it's very similar to cannabis cuttings, just go and take 10 inch softwood cuttings from the tree(green small stems, not stems/branches with bark, that's another method) trim the extra leaves off, pinch any bud sites off if any, throw it in a clean pot with peat and perlite or your preferred starting soil, sometimes i take 3 small stakes and put them in the pot in a triangular form and wrap poly film around it for humidity, will probably take 3-4 weeks to start rooting and seeing tiny new growth but feel free to put it in either a bigger pot or if weather is appropriate and youve hardened it off, outside.
i personally like to soak my cuttings for like 20 minutes in lukewarm clean water before i plant them, i also have not used artificial lighting enough for them but it works, if it is convenient i would try it, but fruit and vegetable propagation has always been a very very short term t-5 veg room and quickly moved to the greenhouse type of deal, i haven't done anything other than flower a few vegetables next to my weed as far as HID goes though, i've heard banana's being grown indoors with hids though
