Buying butane in bulk

I was having some trouble finding butane in bulk.

I did find these, but was unsure of how hard they would be to use

Will it have a standard tip, or some crazy foreign thingy?

I did a little research, and it looks like most butane canisters like that have the same basic tip, though i couldn't find any hard evidence for that particular brand. Maybe try emailing the company or the website that is selling it, I'm sure they can find someone in the office that can speak english :grin:

the butane dispenser tip is standard, however there are variations.  Just buy the butane and drill a matching hole in your bho extractor.
Also, the purity of the butane is important, use at least 3x purified.
Though I'm personally more worried about the pvc leeching into extract - I haven't seen much concrete evidence either way, might have to do some experimentation.

*edit - looked at the link:
"The Rim-Vent-Release (RVR) safety system ensures the release of excess pressure within the canister in the event of abnormal pressure build-up"
and
"For use with all Iwatani Cassette-Feu and Torch burners"

means it probably won't have a standard tip.  I think it would work, but it might be too much work to make or buy a device to properly release the butane.  I'd just go with the lighter refill type butane.

I was initially noting that I thought it was odd that the website listing included the information that it was UL listed. Before researching this a bit I had thought UL listing was only done for electrical items.

Now I want to know why the butane needs to be filtered 3+Xs

they may be not-so-volatile, aka not evaporating with the rest of the butane, and may also be toxic or burn into toxic by-products...not knowledge just a thought

Welding supply companies can order 100Lb tanks.. think its around a Gnote.

300 for a 16Lb tank.
