im going to be runing 2k watts in a 4 by 8 tent is it better to have 1 8 inch fan and filter with 8 inch hoods or would 2 six inch fan and filters be better or is that a over kill with 6 inch hoods

That all depends on how many CF of air your fans are moving. You generally want 3 times the amount of you grow space, being exchanged every minute.

However keep in mind thats using passive intake so if your tent is like a gorilla tent make sure to have all the bottom vents open. Ive seen people actually exhaust with closed vents and wonder why their tents always all sucked inwards.
The size of the exhaust should be the same as the intake so its usually reccomended to use one fan. If ifs not strong enough look for a bigger or more powerful fan rather than a whole nother small set up. Just use reducers to make em fit on your 6" hoods.

i would run a 6 inch fan and carbon filter to each light to help keep the lights cooler. im using two 1000's in a 6.5x6.5x6.5 and i have had no prob this summer with my tent with heat and i have not had the need to use a ac either.
your better going over kill with fae then not enough. that will really help with keeping your humidity levels down and keeping a co2 in the tent
