Going on a Alaskan cruise in two days. Well 5 days really I just leave for Washington in two. Super stoked. Last time I went was a decade ago. Plan on getting some serious fishing time in as well.
Last time I went I caught a 40 pound king salmon. Took me about 45 mins to reel it in.

Last time I went (the only time) to Alaska, I caught a 49 lb. king in the first hour, and it took about 10 mins to get it in the boat. I don't think the fish knew it was caught. The guide got the net caught in an adjacent boat's motor. Somehow the king didn't get away. No one else caught one all day, I thought the 200 dollars for the biggest fish prize was mine.
And it was, until we were heading in and along the side. The guide made up what I thought was a feel good story about it being a good spot. Well shit another guy caught a 55 lb. one. Mine was longer, his was fatter.

Well I got back today. Didn't get to go fishing as the ship was only at the port for 4 hours. So I decided not to shell out the two bills. All in all had a good time. Alaska is such a gorgeous state. I recommend anyone go if they get the chance.

My unk unk use to be a care taker for a small state park in Wa. His little trailer was about 50 yards from the lake which was cool as shit. I have so many stories from that spot.
Anyway, they had these planes that would swoop in and bucket up a shit load of water when ever there was a large fire. Very cool to watch.
