What type of nutrients can I put on the plant to help with all problems etc..... Including something to keep knats away

No fertilizer will repel gnats. Use neem oil as a preventative for pests. Make sure to mix a little bit on dawn dish soap in to function as a surfactant. I would suggest using a nitrogen heavy nutrient. Just remember to use the nute at 1/2 strength of what the label says. You generally want to stay away from granule fertilizer and instead use water soluble fertilizer. I am currently using Fox Farm Grow Big with success. I have also heard good things about Botanicare Pure Blend Pro Grow. And you can never go wrong with organics. Blood meal is a great source of nitrogen.

How do I use it? Spray Bottle etc... sprinkle on dirt

Is it also normal for lower leaves to yellow and die
