I guess something was left on over night and when I tried leaving, the car was completely dead...
I did get a jump which only took about 2 minutes to start up. Once up I took off to the store. It was about a 5 minute drive to the store and 1 minute of that was on the hwy.
I got to the store, cut the engine and went in. I was inside for maybe 5 minutes and when I tried to start the car again it was dead again.
I got another jump and drove back.
I am now sitting in the car with the engine running. I'm hoping this is happening because I didn't give the battery enough time to fully charge since it was dead over night.

Put a volt meter on your battery while the car is running and make sure it reads about 14v. That'll tell you if the alternator is charging correctly. How old is your battery? You could have it tested. What kinda vehicle?

Hopefully its not something more then that.
I had a bad starter when I bought my pathfinder. My battery was always dead. I eventually replaced my starter and that fixed my problem.

The car is only 5 years old. I just killed it and I'm going to let it sit for about 5 minutes. Its been about 20 min as far as the car being left on.

my battery went this spring too. they test em for free at some auto stores.
easier to change a battery then an alternator (ive changed a few of those of the years too)

It could be way worse, that's the one thing I do like about my job, I don't have to pay ridiculous repair bills.

True but that only goes so far without hoists and specific tools not to mention parts bring cheaper than for the average Joe.
