Prepping soil for outdoor
    #713779 - 02/10/14 07:45 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

So im digging up my backyard for the season and im not too sure about my soil. Its pretty clumpy and clay like similar to any in california and I know I need to amend it with something. Would mulched yard waste and maybe some guanos be enough for regular flowers herbs and some cannabis?

Yeah I did basically nothing more than loosen the soil last year and all went well enough. Always room to improve.

I got some OD projects lined up.....

I was gonna dig (big) holes for the plants... put the dirt on a tarp.  Then mix in perlite and some black rich commercial soil with dirt i got from the holes...

Once its all mixed i was gonna fill the holes back up and add my small plants to them.

I hope it works out.

Yeah I'm thinking I'll have to buy soil at some point. Probably use all the mulched shit as a top layer over just what youve got going on.

Ive dug holes up here on the rocky east coast and added in ffof or promix bails amd guano and had great results especially in rasberry patches. Usually after the second seasinnin the same holes they thrive nicely

honestly now I use 45 gallon grow bags in my fenced in area off my back lawn. (My back lawn is gravel)  45 galon fabric bags produce some monsters and there easy to slide around for maximun sunlight.

Yeah I'm pretty much set on a bail of promix and a 50l bag of perlite. It would be cool to know the mineral content in my backyard soil but probably doesn't matter as much as  the substance of it.
