My new idea

I think that while I work and have a regular job, I am going to try to crack into the local gourmet mushroom business. I have tons of experience in Cubenis cultivation which should at least serve as a foundation for the production of edible mushrooms. I figure I will take a percentage of every check I get from my new job and put it into an account and use that money to start getting this closet in condition for a small-scale production of either shiitake or oyster mushrooms
I have a ton of research to start doing and a lot of field-work involving talking to potential markets but I think it could be very worthwhile if I can do a lot of the set-up cheaply using my knowledge and if I can find several small places willing to buy on a regular basis
What do you guys think?
I feel it's time in my life that I start doing something I love and something that could open up more opportunities for myself

Sounds cool, why not, my friend has a log that has holes drilled in that are filled with the mycelium and soaked and let sit for a year to colonize. He grew for 2 seasons now, they're pretty tasty.

So he is doing Shiitake?
I am still deciding which mushroom has a better market. Since I am limited in my grow space for right now, I would rather pick one or the other to start with and really master that before trying to do multiple species
It's sounding like Oyster may be easier to grow overall but are less profitable. Which would make sense. I think Oyster's might be a better starting place for me until I can buy an apartment or a house with a whole room dedicated to mushroom cultivation
Your buddy just do it as a hobby or for a business?

Go big or go home.
You should see how RR grows his on his farm. Pretty bad ass growing "room".
If I could cultivate the black truffle I would be making bank.

Good idea if you can find someone to buy them. I'm currently sitting on almost 2 lbs of cubes that I can't get rid of because I just dont know enough people that like to trip. If I can't unload them that's gonna be a lot of wasted time/$.

Mulch them.
Some fag on rollitup turned his into worm food. Apparently cubes are a not big commodity in his area.
But imagine lemon teking all of that.

They were a big commodity, before these I unloaded about the same amount in less than 6 weeks. Then all of a sudden nothing. I guess everyone I know got tired of them.
Mulching them is an interesting idea, would they benefit my plants in some way? I'm guessing mulched shrooms would be high in nitrogen?

From what i herd it takes two years or so before it is ready for plants. Not sure if it matters if the mushroom has Psilocybin or not. But maybe it will degrade by then.

Yep I have been there too. Completely flooded the market and people dont consume mushies with the same frequency that they use other drugs
People get burnt out on them too more quickly

Yeah ive seen RR's setups with the metal storage containers. I am not on that scale since I dont have any property. But it would be badass
Right now the best I could do is a couple of greenhouses, maybe 3 small ones

Grow different color oysters and sell them in baskets. Add some value to an otherwise profit lean venture.

My first 2 steps; decide on a catchy company name, something catchy and legitimate
And second is to make a short presentation that I can go and present to maybe a dozen or more places in the immediate area -----
Well first I have to see if I even have enough space to do any kind of capacity grow. At only 15$ a pound, I see it being hard to recoup the initial investment. After the investment is covered it would be very profitable since supply costs are minimal but I just dont know if I can swing it through that first phase
