It still looks like it needs a good trim when they're done though, so it seems like a waste unless you wanted to half process a lot of plant before it dries.

Well yeah....you'll have to go through and clean things up. But what you trim by hand will be all sugar.
Sit down and trim 20# of outdoor and you'll think that thing is a godsend.
A small scale grow obviously wouldn't be a big deal to do by hand.
