American Beauty is rolling out! The long-anticipated collaboration between Dogfish Head Beer and the Grateful Dead will be appearing on retail shelves over the next couple weeks!
And click here to find American Beauty near you: http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/fish-finder.htm
Luckily there is a liquor store right down the street from my work that sells it so I am definitely going to be trying this out.

Yeah I noticed that too. But they said on their FB page two days ago that "American Beauty is rolling in the brewpub & tasting room today. It also begins heading to wholesalers this week & should begin appearing on retail shelves over the next weeks!" So hopefully you see stocked in the coming weeks.

Well they listed it now but I am showing 0 locations so far within 100 miles of me. I just think it is too soon as there is a Wholesalers about 40 mins away from me so I should be seeing them stocked soon.

I finally was able to get it! I dropped about 100 dollars on 6 750ml beers.
I had the fattest grin on my face, and the person behind me quietly said wow.

I have to give props to this thread for alerting me on this limited edition brew...tried one the other night and it was AWESOME!!! Very flavorful yet surprisingly smooth for 9% ABV.
Today I was bored so I watched the clip on the Dogfish Head site about the brew...best part was how they described the process of deciding on the original ingredient which they crowdsourced, as in gathering submissions from Deadheads for an ingredient which reflected their experiences on tour.
From the video: "So we got over 1,500 ingredient ideas, roughly 20% of which were illicit substances."
In a way, I'm surprised it was only 20%.

The beer is damn tasty and enjoyable but at $14 for a 25 oz bottle it can get awfully pricey. I wonder how much a case of it costs?

Couldn't agree more about the price. As good as this beer is, I only picked up one and probably will only get 1 or 2 more to save for a special occasion. Somehow they captured a great taste yet messed up one of the biggest aspects of Dead culture by charging a ridiculous price. I'm assuming the granola they used was pretty expensive since its organic and sourced from a small granola company in OR.
Also, from what I understand they are only making it in the 750ml size, so looks like there isn't a way to save $$ by getting a case.

Arrogant Bastard is great ale. I like it on a cool day when I am just chilling outside and babysitting the smoker.
I just had the American Beauty tonight. I harvested 2# of oyster mushroom and fed a friend. He split the bottle of American Beauty with me in return. I really liked it, but I couldn't pick out a granola taste. I doubted I would, since granola is sugars and grains anyway. I am glad this is an imperial pale ale and not an indian pale ale.
I didn't know American Beauty was so expensive. 3 or 4 of these would be a great drinking session for me, but I won't do it at $15 per bottle.
Arrogant Bastard and American Beauty have good write-ups at Beer Advocate.
