Question about sealing mason jars!
    #680071 -

Sorry for the leave of absence from the board fellow forum members. I have not had much time latley due to a family matter. I have been spending way to much time in hospitals and doctors offices! I hope it comes to an end sooner rather then later so I can move on in life but it is what it is.....

Now onto the question...

I have nugs in mason jars and I am not going to be usein them for awhile so I need to stash them. I was wondering what is the best way to get an air tight seal?
Can I dip the tops of jars in wax like they do bottles of makers mark booze?
Any ideas? I am trying to make it airtight as I can get it.

Thanks in advance to all the replys. I will check back later and see what your ideas are.

If you have about $50-70 to spare you can get a decent vacuum sealer for lengthy stashes. If not, you could probably just seal as tight as you can and store in the freezer.

Best of luck with you and the family matters.

I thought dipping closed jars upside down in boiling water activated the seal

That's just the attachment.  You still need to buy the vacuum sealer.

There is a way in which you boil them, but this will remove all the air instead of just sealing it.

Ah, I see how this could be a disadvantage.
