The site is growing backwards. Everyday it seems there are less and less people. I wonder when the admins are gonna figure out that it's pretty stupid to keep paying to keep this place up. I love the place but even I am starting to wonder if it's not better to just have a weed section at the Shroomery.
What do you guys think?

In all honesty I've thought the same. Especially the last couple of weeks. Less and less posts in the Dome even.

i love this site ,but honistly i don't see a point to it it would make more sense to make a growery section on the shroomery like Magash said.

I love this place.
The people here are a lot more chill than the people at the Shroomery.
Stoner's got to love them.
If our admins would put some time into this place I think it would come around.
A lot of people here worked hard to get the sticker out.
New people showed up but didn't stay around. Bummer.
I think in time this place will grow, hope it stay's around but if it does move, I'll be there.

Personally, I'd rather keep the Growery as it's own seperate site.
For one, I don't need my activities from both sites linked to one username. 
Second, like a few have said, the general atmosphere and company here is a lot more friendly and mellow.
Almost like an internet family.
It's a lot easier to get a feel for the people here and have familiarity with where people are coming from.
Some things are just not funny or understandable if you aren't familiar with the person posting.
Keeps it from feeling like I'm talking to strangers as much here, I guess.

Here is how the Growery came to be.
I use to actually I still am a moderator in the The Ethnobotanical Garden which use to cover weed questions along with cactus and others. I was getting hit with so many people asking weed questions I begged for 3 or 4 years for them to open a weed forum. Ends up some of the admins had the same idea and along came the Growery. For a while it seemed to grow but like Hawk said the drop off has been really bad lately.
Not much of a story but that's how the site started.

Populations rise and fall. It's summer time, and people are outside. It's more difficult to grow indoors during summer. In winter everyone is inside on their computers.
I like the growery a lot, in part because it's very small.
Good for this site+community, as small communities don't show up on the radar as much.
Good for each of us because we get to know each other better, and that makes it easier to create a nicer community.
I think the growery has been around for so many years now, that there isn't much point in integrating it into the shroomery forums. It would be a shame to loose what is here, because it's damn cool.
Hosting the growery is probably *relatively inexpensive. We would only be shifting the content activity from this website to the shroomery - and both websites are probably hosted on the same server. So hosting costs would not change.
If we moved to a subforum in the shroomery, activity would die down further, as potential and experienced growers will seek out websites that specialise in cannabis cultivation. So we would in effect not only destroy this community, but also reduce it's potential.
The costs of maintaining the site really just lies in the URL renting fee and SSH verification which are quite expensive.
Maybe what would be better to shave off costs is to create a subdomain of shroomery, ie growery.shroomery.org. Then at least they are not paying the URL fee every few years.
I don't see how moving to the shroomery will make things better. It kind of sounds like throwing in the towel and accepting less and throwing away what is and could be.
I mean I support this site, because I want it to keep going. Other people do too. That should be enough.

I used to be on the shroomery all the time, but I have recently registered on the growery and find it a lot more chilled out with a lot of friendly people. I hope it lasts.

Maybe if someone fixed all the stupid broken links in cultivation section.
A lot of people dont come for the forums, and if the main site is crap to navigate through with old outdated topics...then why would they bother making a username?

If we merged back to the shroomery there would be OTD dudes posting Weiner pics in no time.
why don't we just try being more active with it to beef up content that can get us back to google like posting our grows and writing up smoke reports on verified strains?

This Growery is so slow shit isn't getting old- it was old a long time ago and is now virulently annoying.
Spency said it- this is the middle of the summer and there is always a lull at this time. I remember past summers that were way slower at times.
This isn't the end of the world, folks.

I don't really think it's gonna go anyplace either cause the admins don't seem to notice this place but if they did and payed attention they would realize that sponcors aren't selling much to people here. Even seed companies have abondoned us (Nirvana for one)
As far as slower summers that isn't really true. We have never gone 24hrs with no posts in the cultivation forum before and we have done it a few times now in recent months. We just went 21hrs in the last few days. The dome has never been anywhere near as slow as it is right now. On a good night they may get 4 or 5 posts there.
We get a ton of hit and runs now. New people use to stick around now it's they join stay for a few posts and when they get only a few answers there gone.
Am I saying that the site should be shut down---hell no but I may start chucking a few flyers in a few dispensary waiting rooms and put some stickers on there doors.
