So i was trying to make a new growbox and i thought, "why activated carbon." As a filter of course, but it uses up power(the fan has to push air through more stuff), needs frequent replacement, and doesnt always work. So what if u didnt allow air(as much air) to escape and instead added co2 into the box via co2 generators(Flameless propane) or tanks. This gets rid of smell and lowers power usage.
Since the growbox is not hermetically sealed some air would escape, breaking the cycle. But the amount that escapes would be negligible. There would also be a small 12v fan for internal circulation.
Humidity and heat could be controlled using a standard AC Unit. The water that drips out the back could be stored in a tank and used to water the plants or be sent back directly into a hydoponic/aeroponic unit.
So yeah thats my current design. Id love to see what you guys have to say about this. But please, do not jst shoot it down. Give me reasons, comments, mods, whatever you like.
I actually found a more interesting biological way of making lots of co2.
