Are these clones budding?
    #673704 - 06/06/13 11:45 AM (10 years, 9 months ago)

So I have 2 clones I have been holding for someone under some CFL's on a 14.25 light schedule for two and a half weeks now. Are they budding or are those preflowers? I just noticed this today.

Yup there budding. I'm sure he'll appreciate the shocked cuttings. It doesn't take 12 hours of darkness for all strains to start budding. 12 hours is used cause all strains will start budding with it.

The reason they were on 14.25 is that is how much light he will be getting in the area he is in since they were going to start to go outside on Saturday.

Hey magash, I don't mean to hijack the thread but I have a related question. Would a small 1 foot fluorescent 1 bulb lamp that was enough for a large mono tub of shrooms be sufficient to extend the daytime of a 600 watt tent. I already have the tent dialed down to 400 watts because it's too hot and I'm in veg. I was thinking of running he 400 watt for ten hours a day in the dead of night to keep the temps down and extend the light to 24 hours by putting this 50 watt lamp mounted on the hood. It's dim, but enough to read a newspaper in.

Will this stop them from immediately budding? I need some veg to get more than a quarter per plant.thanks.

You know for some strains it may be enough but not all. Besides if your using the 50watt there isn't enough light for the plant to use to grow anyway. Even if the plant stays in veg during the time the light is dim it won't be doing any growing anyway which is what you need to get the increased yield  your looking for.

In otherwords I can have a 2 year old plant grown under a 50watt light. Now there was enough light for it to stay in veg but since there wasn't enough light for it to do much else with I have a 2 foot tall, 2 year old plant.

Yeah but would it make my plants stay in veg even though the 400 watt hps is on 12/12. I'm trying to save on heat and nervy costs. I have the dimmable 600 watt phantom ballast on at 400 watts for 12/12. The fluorescent light is on 24/7 hoping to keep the plants in veg while still giving. Them at least half a day of hid light. Well see. I'll let you know!

Yeah it should keep them in veg. But like I said by cutting the lights power back your cutting growth so you save nothing in the long run and cost yourself yield.

The heat man. I can't have the tent running during the day. It will kill me in this house. Not literally....
Also, my central ac is jumping now in June and I can't afford a 430 dollar bill. It's normally 121 with my 600 blasting. In summer 18 hour veg will assure me a 350-400 light bill. I need to see. Six plants lasted me three weeks. I'm doing 20 this time. That should get me through. I'm never buying schwap again goddamint!

Are you air cooling your lights?

Yeah, I have a 4x4 hydrofarm tent Including hydrofarm 6" air cooled hood, with insulated ducting and a six inch hydrofarm inline fan through a six inch phresh filter. The room is upstairs and is always hot no matter what. The ac just doesn't push to that room.it needed a wall unit when it was my bedroom. But like I said. Running a wall unit, fans, ballast, etc. would be astronomical as far as the bill goes. This is for six plants.

Also, I'm not being cheap with light consumption for no reason, I need to have my balance at zero when I move in August. They won't transfer with a balance and I already need rent, deposit, etc.

Are you exhausting the air outside?  A 600 shouldn't be causing too many issues

Landlord pokes around basement and attic is a sauna/freezer. It's been cooler here so I just threw the 400w setting into 18/6 little girls are growing an inch give or take a day. When the HOTT weather kicks I'll cut back to 12/12 I just needed to get some veg in or the would yield a quarter a plant. I want at least a zip a plant for my time.

why don't you lower your consumption and make use of the free sun...

I have a plate that I lay a number of pots on...before I go to university..I put the place on the AC unit outside in the sun...and turn off the CFLs and when I come back around noon...I take them in as the sun sets and turn on the lights again.... its not a chore, just moving the plate...saves on electricity and provides superior lighting to the plants..
I am running 24h clones

Outside isn't an option as I livein the city. I didn't have clones ready for outside. A little late now but, maybe I'll throw one where a corn stalk wished to be. Anyway. The veg finished and I'm flipping the lights back. Fucking A!
