I'm fairly sure it is possible to clone from a single leaf but its much more difficult.
As long as it doesn't dry up and die, let it go. What are you really wasting? Even my properly cut clones sometimes take up to 2 weeks when I don't have underheat for em.

Actually it's not possible. I've rooted leaves before planting and it doesn't work.
