Seems to be a book of great importance to the Nietzche scholarship in this country, which isn't strange. Herd knows how to produce to meet herd's needs. It's not fair to blame Mr. Kaufman on misleading folks of this country though. Firstly, Mr. Kaufamn is medium intellectual, which means he can't lead or mislead by the force that follows from his power, but needs constantly refill his tank by herd reflection. Secondly, herd will go their random way anyway, in togethernesss, even in their arguments. I am often amazed by one or another Nietzsche scholar fiercely attacks or defends, seemingly him or his opponent, does present a power, or a point. Is this their way of making an identity out of nothingness? Philosophy herd!
Kaufman emphasized the style and beauty of Nietzche's prose, which he certainly is abler to appreciate than us, and this provides a resort he can instantly turn to whenever his other imcompetence struggles to hide. You can talk Goether, or Wagner, or society, or woman, or feminism, or anti-semitism, or socialism. But Nietzche is an isolated abyss, a tortured soul of unrecognized genius, a lifetime bachelar(and a possible virgin) with maybe strong sexual desire, a daydreamer of noble master moral, with however only insight on slave psychology, a destroyer that fails to build... and above all, a man writes more trash than gems, which is indeed where it separates people, ranks people. See, how repeatedly Kaufman fell under the spell of 'Thus spoke Zarathustra'-a book for everyone and no one, a book offers ultimate profundity, and ultimate safety that comes with it, a book proclaimed highest by Nietzche himself? My goodness! Do you really understand this bundle of puzzles? Be warned, Nietzche isn't a safe place like Hegel is, it does separate, it does rank. Herd doesn't separate, doesn't rank, it is ranked, as a group in its entire wholeness.
Summary, this book is written by herd, of herd, and for herd. I rank it two stars due to my due respect to herd.
