Blotches on Leaves. Diagnosis?
    #621955 - 05/09/12 11:57 AM (4 years, 6 months ago)

So this is on my taller plant, the past couple days I've noticed it has been developing some dark brownish type blotches on some of its bottom fan leaves, the tips of one of the leaves is curling a good bit.

Some of the other smaller leaves look really dark forest green. Also there is some yellowing/shriveling on some smaller lower leaves. The rest of the plant looks fine. It hasn't been watered in a week (Today is its watering day). I been using 7.0 ph water.

Right now it is at about a week-week and half into pre flowering, some of the pistils have turned orange now.

Soil ph: 6.8-7.0
Nitrogen: Very low
Phosphorus: Medium
Potassium: medium-High

Edit: Just watered with less of the fertilizer I been using/with some sugar (Read that it helps at this stage), man they were some thirsty girls! I might have to start watering them more frequently, all the water I poured in just got sucked up. Bone dry.

Perhaps...The strange thing is my other plant that I am giving the same to isn't showing any signs of this at all. Perhaps they were just dehydrated? Doesn't really explain the blotches though...I pruned off the bad leaves and gave them a good water with a lighter fertilizer mix and 3 packets of sugar

I don't know shit about growing the kind bud but from experience growing other plants I'd say that looks like a lighting issue to me. I'd say too much light. Be wary of over-watering! Heed my disclaimer though, I'd hate to misinform.

blackd0ve420:Hm...Well since they have been growing they are getting closer to the light...I been kinda eyeing it myself....I have 4 23 watt CFL's and one 20 watt tube cfl above that.

Yeah I did, I think I'll stop by home depot and see if they have any for just nitrogen. Everything else is fine.

They need to be transplanted into larger containers man.  I would go 3-5 gallon.

I can't man, Don't have the room. That's why I got an autoflowering ruderalis/sativa/indica hybrid. These are going to be very short plants. Poster on shroomery left this:

They need more fertilizer, not less. Looks like a phosphorus deficiency.

That is a clue that they need phosphorus. In the early stages of a phosphorus deficiency you'll see super deep green leaves. As it progresses, yellowing and blotches will appear.

PH 7 water is also too alkaline. I'd give them a good feeding of TigerBloom, which will also help drop the ph.

Well because of the small containers you are dealing with a lot of issues.  When you plant soaks up the water that fast they aren't soaking up the nutrients at the same rate, leaving excess nutrients in your soil.  Adding MORE nutrients will probably exacerbate the situation. Phosphorus deficiency doesn't automatically mean that there isn't P in the soil, as indicated by your soil testing.  More than likely you are in lockout.

A pH of 7 is NOT too alkaline in soil.  The preferred range is from 6.5-7.  This person did NOT know what they are talking about.  It would be preferable to drop it down just a schosh, but I doubt that this is your problem

If you can't transplant, then you need to flush thoroughly.  And then re-dose.  When you water I would only feed on every 3rd watering or so.  Good luck man and let us know if you have any more questions.  Also when posting in this forum if you could fill out the questionnaire at the top it would be greatly appreciated.

Well the containers can't be helped so I'll do my best to work with it. I agree with you about the P. There is definitely plenty enough in the soil already. I was originally trying to just find a fertilizer that had a high nitrogen level. At this point they're in middle flowering, more and more pistils are forming and turning orange, trichs are forming everywhere.

So you recommend then in this order: 1. Flushing (once?) 2. Water with something (Lemon juice?) to bring the PH in the soil slightly more acidic 3. Lay off the fertilizer? Or still get a high nitrogen brand?

P.S I don't see where to go for the questionnaire, could you post a link and I'll happily take it. Thanks for all the help!

Updated pics (Watered/mixed Wednesday with less fert/added 3 packets of sugar)(Sorry for not so good quality pics, i'll have better ones later).

I didn't realize your plants were that small.  The container size is not as bad as I thought it was.

You need to get a pH meter, and then adjust the pH down to about 6.5 with lemon juice.  Flush with a 5:1 water to soil ratio.  Keep in mind that the affected leaves are not going to get better.

Yes sir! Thanks for the link.

P.S. Yeah next time I'll take some more pics so you can get an idea of the plant/container ratio. These plants genetically aren't going to get much bigger then what they already are.
