noob 1st grow... Quick Germ question!

I have a bubbleponics system for a dwc.... Is there a way to germinate seeds without rockwool cubes and put them in the system? I know its probably a dumb question but I been searching and cant find the answer.

Also I have a seed in a rockwool cube and can see the tap root came out of the shell... Do I wait to start lighting till the first leaves or can I start now... Also If I can start now is the 90w led ufo ok to use right away or should I use a lower wattage light... Total noob first grow... help would be great!

I use rapid rooter plugs instead of rockwool.
Your plant doesn't need light until it has leaves, and that 90 watt ufo will be fine to start under.
