Where are those temps being taken at?  Have you measured what temps the top of the leaves are getting?

This tool is a great thing to have laying around the grow room.

I feel ya there man. The grow shops are like a toys r us for growers, but shit I never leave one without spending close to a hundred bucks everytime (which is probably not much compared to the size of the grows most guys got going on here). I'm still in soil so all the hydro equipment looks like a wonderland.lol

Hydro is fine, I've been preferring soil these last few years though.  But I've been thinking of switching it back.  I'm tired of having shit tons of soil to dispose of.

We have a vegetable garden outside that we use the soil in. We give out veggies during harvest time to the neighbors so they don't think anything of us having soil in the backyard.
The hydro stuff would be fun, but the equipment seems daunting and expensive.

I do raised beds, but living in the city, I only have so much space to keep putting the soil.  I run 3-4 50 gallon tubs of soil for each grow.  That adds up quickly over the years.

One of the great things about switching to coco is that its reusable and I don't have to haul a bunch of bags in and out of my apartment. You get the best of hydroponics without having to do an ebb and flow system or recirculating tank, so their is no tank maintenance to worry about. I use blumats to water but want to upgrade to a drain to waste setup to keep them flushed better.

Hydro equipment is hella cheap and the operation is very basic. For my coco drain to waste setup I just paid $60 for a 2x4 tray, few more buck for some hose and fittings.

You would need $30-50 on a pump, $60 on ppm and ph meter, $20 on a timer and a few other random things your looking at around $200 for a basic ebb/flow system, but could easily do a drain to waste for just a little bit more. Coco is the way to go for hydroponic simplicity and amazing results.

Raised beds are awesome for peppers. Yeah I can see that much soil piling up pretty fast.

Every grower I have talked to says its a little messy at times, but if you want awesome results coco is the way to go. Once I get a few plants flowered out in soil I am going to stick my toe in the water on hydroponics.

You can get just as good of results from soil as opposed to hydro or coco/soilless.

Good shit. Was wondering what you think of that cool tube, like do you regret getting a cool tube vs a closed hood? need to get something for the summer and wondering if those cool tubes suck or not. Also do you know if it's possible to take out the reflector part inside the tube? Although I guess taking out the inside reflector and putting an added reflector on top of the glass would just mean the reflected light goes through more layers of glass.

The standard hoods have a better footprint than cool tubes.

i think i would have rather gotten an aircooled hood.i knew cool tubes have a smaller footprint than air cooled hoods before i made my purchase. i just didnt think that would matter much with my small setup. the ct has a noticabley smaller footprint than my open reflector, even in my small grow cab. i wish i would have gotten the air cooled hood.:rasta:

im not sure if you can take out the inside reflector or not. i can check later when the lights come on.

Well I was thinking of getting a cool tube then taking out that aluminum piece and using my generic non air cooled hood over the tube. I have an idea how to combine them.

Either that or 40$ more for a hood I like. magnilume pro

day 34 of flowering
i ended up going back to my open reflector. i just wasnt happy with the cooltubes foot print. it also seems like the light at the canopy wasnt as bright.
i moved my exhaust fan to hopefully be able to suck out heat more effeciantly.i also pointed my intake air right at the light.

midgetpawn: it doesnt seem like the reflector on the inside of the tube can be easily removed.

heres a couple of pics without the hps on.

im hoping for at least 14 grams. is that reasonable?

day 51 flower

im finding at least 1 nanner on every bud! plus i got mites moving in!
trichs are 85% cloudy with only 1-2% amber the rest are clear. i really wanted to wait for at least 25% amber but im afraid of more nanners and mites.should i chop her down? ive got plants to take her place.

Chop while it's still worth chopping and you don't end up with a bunch of hash making material.
