actually THC will form a film on the surface of the water that sticks to the glass around the waterline...so all you are drinking is all the water-soluble shit that you really dont want.

THC condenses slightly in the water...it does happen in small amounts every time you smoke, but that doesn't mean it's dissolved in the water, as it is pretty much insoluble in water. It floats around on the surface like an oil until turbulence causes it to collide with the sides of the bong, this is why a dirty ring forms at the water line if you dont change your water or you don't clean your glass regularly.

I don't know, between the constant aeration of the water and the anti-bacterial effects of smoke, it could be cleaner than you think.

How come even in some of the dirtiest bongs I've seen, there has never been any noticeable fungal or bacterial culture?

Not saying there wouldn't be some present, but it seems like the action of the bong itself kills off a lot of these. Worst case you drink a shit ton of dead organisms.

Water itself usually won't grow nasties unless its got something else in it (backwash, etc).

Not visible ones anyway.

yeah good point, not enough nutrition in that water that will breed up significant bacteria to get you killed

i was thinking instead of drinking the water why not just let it dry out in a cup and smoke the resin thats left behind, :shrug: little less nasty that drinking straight up bongwater

or just clean your bong after it gets that nice brownish film built up around the waterline, say with acetone, then evaporate in a dish and scrape up just like an oil extraction. This will ensure that all of that water soluble nastiness goes down the drain instead of in your body. Just a thought :shrug:

I personally would never do that...I would much rather smoke bud or just make normal BHO :dumblol:

But I guess if you are that desperate that would probably be the best way to go about it :shrug:

I used to think the same, that any significant growth in a bong would be impossible. That is, until I cleaned my friend's double perc for him and a green fungal mass came out of the main chamber. Neither of us got sick, but it shows that its possible nonetheless.

did that with everclear and my steam roller, really harsh nasty admittedly potent resin

that is the point of water filtration though, with a dry pipe you are going to get THC resin that condenses and sticks to the side, plus all the other crap that sticks to the resin. With water filtration, at least some of the more polar compounds are filtered out prior to the resin sticking to the glass. This should result in a slightly purer, less harsh type of resin.

its all based on research and a decent knowledge of chemistry, material sciences, and just what I think would happen based on that knowledge and what I've heard from other stoners :gethigh:

I personally think drinking bong water is retarded, but thats my opinion and not based on any fact :dumblol:
