I change my avy regularly.
These guys have seen Jack Kerouac, Ram Dass, and Gary Snyder, prior to the two most recent.

Just in case anyone wonders mine is a microscopic shot of the cell bearing two almost developed mushrooms spores. Basidiospores I think.

The ones I posted are proteins that have been separated in a similar manner to the DNA in the art pics you posted. They are human proteins that have been engineered into hybrid proteins to study a bunch of interactions.
I guess if you tamper with the separation apparatus (e.g. tilt the DNA gel diagonally across the electric field) some trippy patterns will emerge.
Its easy to understand these things if one is on LSD. I know of one guy who got the nobel prize for some fundamental work in that area. He told Albert Hofmann that if it wasn't for all the LSD he had done in Berkely back in the day he wouldn't have come up with this revolutionising idea.

Essentially whats important are the 2 lanes on the right. The last but one shows a mixture of a human hybrid protein (top) mixed with either X or Y proteins. There are two bands on the last but one lane (which had hybrid+X) and only one band on the last lane (hybrid and no Y)
So the conclusion is that the hybrid interacts with X but not with Y.
