yeah, id agree with this.  the 600 watts are more efficient than any other wattage.

600w's have the highest lumen per watt output.

I wonder about the canopy penetration of 400w's esp ceramic metal halides does anyone know? I suppose I could google.

Lower than the 600W, that's all you need to know.

Not only are the 600's higher efficiency in Lumen/watt (even though lumens are a useless measurement, people insist on using it :facepalm:) but the penetrational advantage far outweighs the "lack" of even coverage you'd get from 3x400's.

Honestly if I was making this purchase I wouldn't even consider the 400's being contenders. There would be no question in my mind :shrug:

Although plants don't use lumens, isn't it a relatively fair comparison between different bulbs as the PAR range/spectrum is usually the same % of overall lumens?
