Coca is pretty amazing. When I went to Peru, I had some. The tea makes you really jittery, nervous, and giggly. It makes you feel unsettled and lasts a couple hours. We were in the Andes and on a bus so they distributed cups out to each of us. Of course, that experience of feelings were entirely my own, you might really enjoy the energy.

I tried them at a drumming circle one night and did not think they were a huge deal. Was a nice vibrant buzz. My experience was that chewing the leaves was a stimulant more pleasant and strong than coffee, but completely devoid of any narcotic or psycheledic effects. Definitely not like zooting.

Price seems right to me, but that is just a guess. I was just thinking that I might pay $1-1.50 per gram. I think what I chewed was about a gram.

I've been three times with a couple groups. It's pretty amazing, I love that country. I'd live there. This year we are going to see this canyon which is supposedly three times as big as the grand canyon. The Andes are stunning. So many different ecosystems wrapped into one mountain range, the water is emerald green and curealean (sp?) blue.

Oh and the cities we were in were called La Merced and Kawai. The first time we stayed on the coast. The other two times in the Andes. We go during their winters.

poppy pods are not illegal unless they are dried/prepared and even then it is a grey area. One which would be very easy to stay in if you set up some lame poppy decoration basket.
I am unfamiliar with coca leaves though. I always figured they were worthless but you could get them to chew on.
