Outdoor grow?
    #517851 - 01/23/11 10:58 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

Hai guys.

OK, so I want to grow outdoors, obviously. What I want to do is take a shit load of seeds and just throw them around outside in a remote location. Has anyone here had success in doing this and getting away with it? I want to plant the seeds, then come back later to harvest the buds.

Has anyone actually done this? Is it likely that my project will be compromised? If you have done this, were there any things that came up that I might want to take into consideration?

I figure this is how mexican shwag weed is grown - a field is chosen and lots of seeds are planted, the herb grows males and females and they pollinate each other, that's why they would have seeds. This is pure speculation on my part, though.

I want to plant 'em and then come back a few months later and harvest the goods. I'd prolly use duffel bags to put the bud in and have some sort of odor masker in the trunk of my car, where I would place the bags. What's good for covering up that smell? I'm thinking coffee or some chemical / product or something I'm just not aware of. Thanks to any helpful replies.

Would you be able to tend to the plants at all? nutes or watering?

Possibly, but I really just want to throw some seeds out there and only return to the spot to harvest. I'm gonna get sketched out going to the same location frequently. I haven't even figured out a spot yet, that's my first real obstacle.

IDK much about growing cannabis, I'm a shroom guy... I'd water it once every
two weeks if anything - hopefully mother nature would provide the rest of the
moisture necessary for it to grow... I figure it doesn't need much water to at
least survive. What do you recommend for nutes?

If you can't get out there to water, then you will need to find an area near a creek/river where the soil will be perpetually moist. As for nutes I can't say I've got alot of knowledge to pull from sorry, other than giving you a few NPK ratio's there's not alot I can say with confidence so I would wait till a TC rolls through here.

Something I could suggest you look into would be slow release ferts to be mixed into soil, though I don't know alot of growers that like to use them.

haha dude if your planning on doing this either come with an army (I don't suggest telling an army of people about your massive field grow), then plan on getting there at the crack of dawn and camping out for a few days trimming. haha just don't want you to toss all the seeds out then come harvest time be like, "Ummmmm...shit"

damn, I hope it's like that LOL

I would trim the buds somewhat, just enough to be able to stuff it into the bags and get the fuck outta there. If anything I'll do the major manicuring at home.

There are others I do things with sometimes, I'm sure I'd have at least another pair of hands to help me. Have you actually done something like this before?

not going to work. Even if it does you would need to pull the males and if you have a shit load chanes are some will get pollinated or turn hermie.. not to mention the bud wont be that great because your doing bascially a ditch grow..

I don't care if they get pollenated. If I can find a good spot I'll do it and report back results. Hopefully this is something I can do every year when the weather is right.

If it were that easy, there'd be free pot everywhere. I wish it were, but it's not.. You will be much happier in the end if you research and investigate, and put some effort in.. find a spot you WILL feel comfortable visiting weekly/biweekly. Then find a knowledgable member here and pick their brain.. just sayin..

Yeah, you're probably right. I should aim for once a week...

I think watering once a week would be fine

I could also try to sex them best I can... destroy the males...

I'll try to plant them in early spring and harvest them 5 months later or so.

I figure the natural sunlight cycle going into fall should make them bud.

I am in the process of doing this myself! I know a few people back in my home country(in the fiji islands) that do this exact same thing! They generally smoke leaves and bud. So they can harvest a bit earlier than people here in the USA.

Since its still in the middle of winter i'm wanting to stick some in the ground now(in one spot) and in another i will plant seeds that are starting to germinate. But im trying to figure out when do people normally plant seeds?

People in Fiji just fill up a hand full of seeds turn the soil and then toss them into a nice little ditch and cover them up. This usually produces way more pot than one village could consume.

Also leftovers(ash, buds of joints, plant, etc) gets turned into fertilizer. They often take everything and toss it into an area they are going to be planting in(more pot plants) and in every few weeks they come and toss the soil to decompose everything then they plant after its mainly broken down. Their theory is that the plant will absorb nutrients from itself basically. This way it will produce more resin.

But since temp there is such a stable 70-90 all year, they can grow all year long. One thing you did mention was watering. I know someone who decided to put a drip system in the ground. He build a ram water pump because he was pretty close to a stream. He said he hasn't had an issues with water ever but since this year was suppose to be pretty dry so he was a bit worried.

He never watered before installing the pump and had great success

Sweet, that's inspiring. I figured that's how the mexicans did it LOL

More than one town can handle? ya, if I do it, I'll take pics... but I gotta

wait until april or so, then harvest in sept or oct maybe?

When you are traveling with freshly cut plants, don't even bother with an "odor masker", fresh weed smells stronger than anything I've ever been able to find. Better to just quickly and discretely get them from point A to point B

what you give to your garden is what you,ll get from your garden is what i meant, peat moss works good for retaining water ,lots of it ! look into water crystals as well ,and if you cant make it to your garden at least once a week dont even waste your time , dont mean to shit on your boat ,but hey !
