 Not familiar with vaporizers

So yeah, I've never even used one, but I wanted to know some stuff about vaporizers, just to know and so I'll know what to look for if I decide to buy one or I'm offered one.
I know all about bongs, what tells them apart, what makes them worth more, etc, but none of that about vaporizers 
What makes one vaporizer better than another more expensive one? Are some vaporizers more efficient than others? How would I know? What should I be looking for in a vaporizer? Basically I'm looking to get a Vaporizers 101  Help me out  , thanks in advance.

Thanks man, the wiki broke it down pretty well, I should of looked that up before making the thread, but I wouldn't of got those other awesome sites 
I was definitely not in the know about vaporizers, I pictured almost all of them being like the Volcano vape or whatever that has the bag .

vaporizers are over priced. why not just use a test tub and your stove or a burner? use your cap or modify it!
