Drying Question.
    #485506 - 10/06/10 09:59 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

Whats up growery. So I had to chop a plant down a week early cause I didn't have the stalk supported and it ended up snapping in half...so I chopped it, trimmed up the buds and now they need to dry. I was wondering...do they HAVE to be hung upside down or can I just set them in a cool dark place to let them dry?

I was just going to place them on a rack in my closet with the door cracked open and with a small oscillating fan in there to provide airflow. Also, how long will this drying process take place and is it necessary to cure the buds for longer after they have dried or can I skip that process?

I'm guessing dried this will all weigh out to maybe a quarter ounce?

They don't have to be hung to dry however, if you dry them lying on something they will lose their shape and kinda flatten out. The rack in the closet sounds fine but, I would put the fan on low and have it blow out of the closet and not on the buds or they will dry to quickly. Curing takes place after they dry and greatly improves the quality but, it is not necessary. To cure them once they are dry put them in a mason jar without much extra air space and open it up and turn the buds a few times a day for the first week or two, then open it up at least once a day for another few weeks. The longer this process goes on the better the quality of the buds will be (up to a certain point).

Ok cool thanks man. I chopped all the buds off before realized I could have pinned them up by the stalks, DOH! I might cure them for a week or so, I wish I could cure for more time but I just don't have that time :/
