So i have this box for a HPS lamp, but the ballast is fukd. Is it possible to just gut the old ballast out, order a new one, and replace it for it to work? If so, does anyone know where to order any cheap 400W ballasts? I've seen a kit for about $55, is that a good deal or is there cheaper?

Cheaper than $55? Wouldn't hurt looking but that sounds like a good buy.

I've never bought anything off of ebay before, but there's always a first time for everything..

craigslist search for warehouse lighting will return several results of 400 wt lamps with multi-tap 120v,220, 230 etc ballast for the $40ea price range! All you need to do is disassemble and apply a parabolic reflector! I separate the ballast from the lamp assembly and mount them on the wall, I use 12/3 wiring to extend the light away from ballast so I only hang the lamp & reflector over plants. Good luck!

I just bought 2 55W CFLs, each put out 3860 lumens. Also got 12 Jiffy-Pots and Potting soil for some new sprouts/clones. Next but is a 400W HPS ballast for $40 so I can start flowering. All for <$40. feelsrealgoodman =D

It kinda looks to me like those plants are wanting More light. They seem like they're stretching a lot... unless thats just the strain... idk
