Just got my vape in

I was not expecting it for 2 more days :awebig:

It came with the vape box, the bowl(?), one screen and some tubing, just enough to get started...sorta

I had to go to the store and buy something long and thin to insert the screen, but other than that it was ready to use and I got it for $35 from Amazon.

I had just enough weed ground up to give it my first run. It's got a digital readout that is all but pointless, because it doesn't give a reading of what the element is. Their is a light that turns off when it stops heating. I set it at about midrange which gave a ~275 reading. I felt this was a bit high so I turned it down to ~200.

I got a couple of piny hits but could not see any 'vapor' so I turned it up to 225 and got a mildly 'vapory' hit. I could taste it more and could see the vapor in the tube and when I exhaled. I took a few hits at that temp then turned it up to ~250 got a couple more even stronger hits and had to stop.

Im pretty :vaped: at the moment :flyhigh:

I only filled the bowl about 1/2 to 3/4 full. I think that it may work better with a fully packed bowl. :shrug:

Any pointers for using this thing?

you def don't want to "pack" the bowl and def dont pack it nearly as much as you did.  for best results you want the herb as loosely packed in there as you can without it falling out. 

i have a vapor brothers and when i first bought it, the clerk gave me the run down.  ...lightly pack about 1/8th of an inch of herb in the bowl.  i do this by grinding up my weed, and then suck IN on the mouth piece, while using the bowl end to vacuum up the ground up weed.  then i give it just a little tap to lightly pack it.  all doing this while preheating my element.  then when she's ready to go, i give her a rip.  one of those small bowls lasts me a few days, thats the beauty of the vape.

so basically the point is to get as much warm air drawn past as much weed surface area as you can.  if you pack the bowl too much, you will only be vaping the first 1/8th inch of herb anyway and you won't be getting the full potential due to all that insulation(extra weed)  pull nice and slow and you'll feel it. ...not that you already aren't.  they take a little getting used to, cuz its not as easy as fire to a bowl. 

save that brown "cashed" out weed and then cook with it, or you can smoke it.

I think I need to buy some different screens. This one doesn't seal very well and I get bits of weed in my mouth :argh:

The high is no different IMO from smoking, just not as hard on me lungs :shrug:

I will need to get more tubing and a mouth piece along with screens.

I get a completely different high with vapes, I guess its different for everybody but I get a super clean head high and lots of energy usually even from strong indicas

I guess I have been smoking weed too long there is little difference in highs from one batch to another :shrug:

What kinda vape did you get?

I had a BC vape I bought off ebay a few years ago.  High wasn't different to me either and seemed weaker and cleaner. I didn't really care for the BC vape was like a jar on top of plastic.


But I'd probably like a vapor bros, which I am guessing is the type you got?

It was about 4 years ago when i had the bc vape so for me it is hard to remember.

The BC vape is like a clear jar over the "bowl" inside, and you could see the vapor pretty well while it was being produced inside the jar. On exhale I do not think I could see much on exhale but I held the hits in long.

I didn't get to use it too much either it was stolen when I moved.

This guys using a similar model to yours, and you can kinda see it, his first hit is kinda how I remember the bc vape being.

Its definitely a much cleaner, lighter high, I can feel it in my eyes/head more than my body.

240 seems to be the place for initial vaporization with ~360 being combustion

still needs more research :vaped: :stoned:

Yea, I can still feel it in my lungs if I take too big a hit
but nothing as harsh as smoking out of a glass pipe

Try to never let it combust, if the weed turns black at all its too hot

vaping it to a golden brown is enough to get all the THC out

if it does combust clean out your hose and the glass bit really well so you can get the clean vapor taste in the future otherwise it will constantly taste like crap

vapes take a while to get used to, I know the more i used mine the better it worked, even months later i was still improving technique

now stoney has that vape, wonder how he likes it ???

Yea, there is a lotta fine tuning the process thats for sure man.

I found that a fine grind and just enough weed to cover the screen is enough
set it to ~275 and let it heat up, you can get 2-4 hits at that temp
turn to ~325 for another 2-4 hits, up to 350 for a couple more then its done

and Im still :flyhigh:

but I've smoked 3-4 bowls playing around with it :awesome:

yes, you should be able to see vapor.  even possibly building up in the bowl area.  that video with that stoner ass dude, show everything perfectly.  thats the same vape i have.  even when i was smoking TONS of weed, i could notice the difference in high.  i got fucked my first time using one of those VB's.

I have found out the temp that works best.
Since Im a fairly heavy smoker...

Should I just leave this thing on all the time or ...
keep turning it on and off several times through the day ???

(Im gonna guess leave it on but wanted y'alls advice)

its like a soldering iron, dosent take that long to heat up to where you want it but once its going it can get HOTTTTTTTT

i agree.^^^  your vape will do the job and prolly last you a good while, but to be honest, it may have not been worth the long run.  I paid 100 for mine, which sounds like alot at first, but i was really sold on the !transferable!...lifetime warranty!  and VB has been around forever.

Isn't the point of having a vape, is the ability for it to maintain a steady temp?

just the fact that you say you got that vape for 35 bucks, makes me think that it may not have a very reliable heating element and could be prone to an easy burn out. 

the guy in the video has a vapor brothers a $100 vape, with a ceramic natural mineral heating element and they are the inventors of the box, so they should have the technology down.  either way i wouldn't leave any vape on The whole day... maybe an hour at the most.

16 days in and I LOVE my vape :vaped:

I was at a friends house the other day, and he smoked some shwagg w/me. He gave me a lil to take home and try in the vape. I did and, he asked if it tasted any better vaped, and I said that it tasted pretty much the same. He didn't understand....till he came by and sampled it himself.

Now he is sold on a vaping too :awesome:

One month update :

I still love this thing, but can see why it was only $35. The element has a hard time maintaining its temp, but that's easy enough to work around. I have yet to see it stretching my weed, but Im not using any more weed so ... :ohwell:

I'm looking to upgrade to a name brand one probably for my B-day or X-mas. Hopefully it will have a more stable heating element :/

Another question.

How do you guys use the resin that's left in the bowl/tubing?

I have been using a solvent to dissolve it and pour on a piece of glass to dry. Then scrape up the goo with a blade and add pieces of the goo to another vape bowl.

Gotta be careful with that goo/resin/hash in the vape bowl though. Its far to easy to get too big a hit :crazy2: :yesnod:
