There is no safety on /b/ - it's most recently commented thread on top and you see the first couple replies after the OP.
In short you should thoroughly destroy whatever images from there end up in your cache just to be safe.

You click on the >>###### and it takes you to that post and highlights it.
You can also tripcode if you want (I do on boards that are not /b/) and to do this you.
You enter a name (essentially your user name) and the # or ## and then a series of letters or numbers. These letters and numbers are then jumbled up to make a code that identifies you as you. People also refer to this as being a "tripfag," if you can't ignore flaming I suggest you not do it.
Example tripcoding.
The tripcode ##tripcode makes !!jIcPNMSVBL3 using one # instead would change the code also.
You can also type noko in the email field to stay in that thread, and sage in the email field to reply to a thread, but not bump it to the top.
