One of my old roommates discovered this alternate method for smoking a nice bowl of kief and we've been trying to spread the word among our fellow travelers since then. Even though he owns a pollen press we've found this to be our favorite method. The general idea is to make a little pouch out of rolling paper which lightly compresses the kief into a ball.
My preferred method is to stick your pinky finger in the middle of the rolling paper and twist the ends kind of like a penny-candy wrapper so as to form a pouch around your finger.
Carefully fill the pouch you've formed with kief. Fold the pouch closed and twist the ends while applying gentle pressure toward the center so that the pouch remains in a close-to-spherical shape.
Trim the excess paper (leaving a bit more on one end for a 'fuse') and pop it into your pipe ('fuse' facing upward of course).
Light the fuse (do not inhale while lighting the fuse you'll be smoking almost all paper). You want to let an open flame consume the fuse paper for several seconds (until you see little to no white paper left) then blow the flame out and smoke as you would a bowl of headies. It should cherry up quite well after the first hit or two - it's almost like smoking a teeny-tiny joint of hash.
