I like to think that we are all made up of infinitely small particles, that break down indefinitely.  At least that's the way things are looking.  Of course how these particles interact is where string theory would come in.

If they are infinity small then how can they break down indefinitely?

String theory doesnt posit they are infinitely small, but mainstream and empirically supported quantum field theory does.  Of course when you are an infinitely small point particle you cannot be broken up.

What created the big bang?  What exists beyond the universe?  :shrug:  Currently there are some questions that cannot be answered, and may never be answered within the lifespan of the human species but from current understanding I like to think each particle is made of something smaller.  Like wise our own universe may be a piece of something larger.

M-theory

M-theory attempts to unify the five string theories by examining certain identifications and dualities. Thus each of the five string theories become special cases of M-theory.

As the names suggest, some of these string theories were thought to be related to each other. In the early 1990s, string theorists discovered that some relations were so strong that they could be thought of as an identification.

I came up with the exact same (personal) conclusion and prefer it next to the other theories I haven't bothered to learn about yet.

I enjoy pondering the parallels between how galaxies gravitate around a central point similar to how atoms do the same with a nucleus...
