    #454104 - 08/01/10 09:05 PM (13 years, 7 months ago)

hello everyone
i was wonder what is going on with my plants leaves?
is it normal for a few random leaves on the plants to look like this?
i just transfered them in to 5 gal pots with fox farms soil,
i dont believe i have been over watering or anything
but im just wondering is this normal for just a few leaves here and there to look like this!?
also this plant is grand daddy purple if that would have anything to do with it...?

Hmm, well, fox farm soil is pretty hot so there's a chance your plant is taking some damage due to too much food.  Overall the rest of your plant looks healthy from what I can see.

I say lay off the food for a bit and just give them water and keep watching the leaves for signs of burn/deficiency.

im only giving them water no food i figure the fox farms is enough food.... but hell i have no clue what im doing and its going good so far but i was told to just pinch the "water leaves" (?) off which im assuming the water leaves are the biggest ones, which were the ones that keep dying...but besides that their doing good. thanks for responding.

Well, regardless, I would only remove leaves that are definitely dead.  Don't go picking off perfectly good fans.

Did you cut the soil with anything like perlite, peat moss, vermiculite etc?

Check the ppm of the run off.  If you don't have a meter, go to target and get the zero water pitcher with the tds meter($35).  The run off should read no more than 1100 ppm for veg and 1700 ppm for bloom.  It seems like it has too much but you should check for sure to avert any long term problems.  Also make sure it dries out some between waterings.

That's a tiny plant for a 5 gal pot.  Due to the massive abundance of soil to root mass, it could be a problem with the soil being too wet, since the plant has not grown to accommodate the size of the container, and therefore the moisture being held by the soil will not be transpired very effectively.

Buy a two pronged moisture meter (about $10 at the nursery) to get a handle on the appropriate time to water.  It looks to me like you may have an over-watering problem since your leaves are drooping just a bit and I've seen damage similar to your bad leaf on other overwatered plants.

Also, I'd recommend removing any leaves that touch your soil.  Soil contains organisms that can potentially infect your plants, so you should always try to keep your leaves from resting on your soil medium by removing those that are.
